Title: When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Writer
When I grow up I want to be a writer. I love to express myself on paper, especially through poetry and stories. It’s very fun to be the master designer of a whole new world, where you decide what the characters do, who they are, where they live, and essentially everything you ever want to know about your character.
I started writing when I was very young, 2nd or 3rd grade, and I’ve always enjoyed creating stories. I really started writing before I actually wrote on paper. When I was 4 or 5, all the way up to 4th grade I would make believe stories, and play dress up with my twin sister. We could be snooty princesses, lowly servants, anything! It was the best.
And now that I’m older, it’s even better. I can write things so vividly now that’s it’s almost like playing make believe again, because I can feel the fear of Princess Elanor as she is chased by an enormous, fire-breathing dragon, and the sadness of Gregourio as his best friend moves to Washington, and the joy of Melissa as she finds out that her grandmother is alive and well. And that is why I want to be a writer- to create and to play make believe with myself once again.
