Title: Ship from Uzland
CHAPTER 1
I remember when I used to walk along the cracked logs by the pond. They would creek than crack than fall apart and drift to sea. Moss would grow on the rocks and than we would rock to sleep in Mama's arms.
I have a Mom, a Dad, and a sister. My mom is called Karen and my dad is Matthew. Of course, my sister’s name is Carol Ann but I am known as Isabel Sherlock.
My family has secrets like my sister cannot read or write. My mom cannot cook and my dad cannot swim (since we live on a deserted island). We do not go to school because my family is poor. I live in South Africa. Every night we would sit and watch the sun set down, down, and then gone.
'Izebela, Izebela' Carol Ann cried. 'Come quick!' I rushed over and looked. I saw ships coming from a far away land in the sea. They came bouncing with torn sails and cracked fishing nets. My family and I hid because we did not want them to see us. We were hiding for weeks.
Every night I would peek out from behind the brush to see if they were still there, they were. Investigating the house and setting up camp, I had a bad feeling they were never going to leave!
CHAPTER 2
Right about when they were going to leave, I sneezed. They heard me and came running. For the first time in years, I have never been so scared. They lifted up the brush and brought us outside. I was scared but I said, 'don't hurt me please.' They backed away and got back into the ship. After they were all in the ship, they started whispering. Then the captain walked out of the wrecked ship. He had a long beard and a top hat. I rushed to my father but the captain got closer and closer. I was about to ask why are you here when he interrupted and asked, 'What are your names.' My dad came to the conversation as shocked as I was he announced 'I'm Matt this is my wife Karen and my two daughters Carol Ann and Izebella. Why have you come?' The Captain said, “We are looking for slaves.”
“You want us as what?” my sister mumbled. “I want you as slaves!” the captain shouted. My family wondered through their minds thinking of something to do. All of a sudden we all just sprang off our feet and ran too our little canoe. We paddled as fast as we could with them chasing us. There were many rocks under the water that our canoe could glide over but because their boat was so heavy, they hit the hidden rocks and the boat sank to the bottom of the sea. THE END
