Title: I Shall Turn To You
From time to time even the best of us stumble and fall,
Or perhaps find ourselves backed against a wall.
The actions taken by a person in these times define who they are,
Some will simply hope for a better day to come or wish upon a star.
But prayer is the only way,
To get through the trials of each day.
I admit that I haven’t been the type of person I should be,
And this fact has taken a long time for me to see.
I haven’t been mean or hateful,
Acting rudely or ungrateful.
Instead I haven’t dealt with my grief in the right way,
When was the last time I knelt to pray.
Sometimes it seems as though no one can understand my pain,
But what I’ve done parallels standing outside in the pouring rain.
I haven’t dealt with my pain in the right way,
God is there to listen each end every day.
But instead I set him aside,
And think only of my pride.
It’s obvious this can’t go on very long,
I’m just not that tough or strong.
The pain isn’t just going to go away,
If I don’t do anything about it, it will be here to stay.
So here I am on bended knee,
Swallowing my pride and as humble as can be.
I am asking you for help and comfort through the pain,
A shelter from the thunder and the rain.
A helping hand to guide me,
So the light I shall finally see.
I know what you want me to do,
So, God, I shall turn to you.
