'Dad! No!'
Lad's Father spud round and looked at his son with pure white eyes. Then he collapsed.
Lad ran over. The vacant white eyes of his Father stared back at him.
'Dad?' Lad sounded worried.
'He cannot hear you.' Said the White Lord slowly. 'He is under my control now.'
'What have you done to him?' Asked Page.
'Oh, a simple mind control spell. Works well on the weak minded.'
There was a crash as the White Lord fell from his chair and landed on the floor, dead.
Page and Lad spun round to find Lad's Father standing up, his eyes still pure white.
'Dad?' Said Lad 'What? Are you ...OK?'
'I'm fine,' he replied, 'And stop sayng 'Dad' all the time!'
'your eyes...they're all white! Like the White Lord's!'
'Well how do you think you got your powers? And you didn't really think I was weak minded did you? And you didn't really think I was your Father did you? I'm an android, like the rest of this non-human race. You two are the last, along with twelve others. If you want to save the human race, you must track down your Grandfather.'
'But I thought he died!'
'That's what you were ment to think!'
Lad stopped to think about this.
'Did you know,' his Father continued, 'That nobody knows what his name is? You have to find his name, it is a clue to the answer!'
'But why did you try to kill me?' Asked Page.
'I didn't,' Answered Lad's Dad, 'I was aiming for the White Lord!'
'Who was he?'
'Oh, just some lunatic who wanted to rule the earth. There has to be a dark side, otherwise, there would be no light side. Ironically, the dark Lord called himself the White Lord.'
'Is there a Dark Lord?' Asked Page
'There are many who claim to be. Just some hopeful androids. The true Dark Lord is a human, like yourselves. (Don't be fooled by the name, the dark Lord is a good guy!)'
Lad, who had been sitting on the floor quietly said
'The answer to what?'
'You have yet to find out...'
He vanished, leaving Lad and Page to begin the search for Lad's Grandfather...
