Title: No Handbook

That fateful day is coming,
Cakes and presents galore,
What is my life is becoming?
Complications more and more,

When I wake up that day,
Will I be different?
Is it time to choose which way,
And decipher what is meant?

Time to think of college,
Practical time is here,
I must sadly aknowledge,
I'm growing up; I fear,

Time to think of high school,
And being the best I can be,
Following every single rule,
Digging deep to find the true me,

Looking the same on the outside,
The changes are in my mind,
The future cannot be denied,
I can only hope it will be kind,

Meeting new people,
Making a new friend,
My schedule full,
Never an end,

The peaceful days are gone,
Working hard is now,
It's taken time to dawn,
That I must survive some how,

It's no longer a matter of fun,
Toys, games, and silly lies,
I must focus on just one,
Person's laughs and cries,

I'm afraid to grow up insensitive,
An uncaring, hard-hearted zombie,
I'll find a compassionate way to live,
And ignore that interfering word me,

I'm afraid to become as blind,
As the world of crazy adults,
I'm afraid I'll forget to be kind,
And that I'll have to learn from results,

I'm afraid I won't be enough,
To help the hurt we've created,
Living in a world like this will be tough,
When there's always something being hated,

I'm looking toward the future,
It's calling out to me,
There is no handbook to refer,
To the person who's becoming me,
