Title: Animal Adventures - A Tribute to Ruth Park - Episo
Once there was a wombat called Wombat who had a mouse called Mouse and a cat called Tabby. One day Mouse decided that they should have a holiday. Wombat was so excited about it that he stood on his head kicking his feet in the air. Tabby though, took a different reaction to this because he remembered their last holiday. Mouse comforted Tabby by saying that they would have their next holiday in Big Bush.
'Oh no,' groaned Tabby, 'I don't want to have that experience again.'
'Why don't we have our holiday in Pig Pond?' said Wombat.
'Big Pond, Wombat dear,' said Mouse. 'It's not using alliteration.'
'What's alivetynation Mouse? … er?' said Wombat.
'Everyone knows that alliteration is a pig with a tail like a fish, silly,' said Tabby, 'and everyone knows it's not alivetynation.'
'Tabby, don't be so mean to wombat,' said Mouse, 'and alliteration is not a noun.'
'What's a joun? … Mouse? … er?' said Wombat.
'It's a fish with a tail like a pig's,' grumbled Tabby.
'Oh please Tabby,' begged Mouse, 'let's just get the caravan and all the other things and go.'
The caravan Mouse was talking about, was the caravan that Tabby had made for Wombat's birthday.
When everything was ready Wombat went to his bike which was attached to the caravan and started pedalling. When they reached Big Pond they were amazed at what they saw. They saw lots of dead leaves and broken twigs. The whole of Big Pond was ruined. Mouse went up to a frog who was half dead and asked him what had happened.
'The storm did it,' croaked the frog weakly. 'The storm's to blame.'
Then they decided not to have the holiday and went home sadly.
