Title: Animal Adventures - A Tribute to Ruth Park - Ep 2

'Mouse,' cried Wombat one day, 'look what I found.'
Mouse looked up from the sock it was knitting and said, 'Wombat, please keep your voice down. Tabby is sleeping.'
'But Mouse,' whined Wombat, 'what I found is terribubbly exciting, excepesholy for white mices.'
'Wombat,' Mouse said crossly, 'for the last time, I am a grey mouse not a white mouse.'
'I didn't mean you,' said Wombat. 'I meant this mouse.'
He pulled a mouse that was pink with fear out of his pocket and gasped, 'I thought it was white and now it's pink. Is it a chomedian, Mouse? … er?'
'Wombat, it's you who is a comedian,' laughed Mouse. 'It's not a chameleon. It's a mouse which is not white or pink.'
Indeed, it was right. After Mouse had sent Wombat away and given the other mouse a drink of hot water, the other mouse looked exactly the same as Mouse. Then the two mice went to have a little nap under the tree Tabby was sleeping in.

While the mice were sleeping, Tabby awoke with a yawn. Tabby looked down to see his Mouse. But when he saw the two mice lying in the same position under the tree, he thought Mouse had doubled and was scared. Tabby was so scared that he fell out of the tree and rolled down the hill and into an old wooden barrel. Just then, Wombat came walking along and was astonished to see an old wooden barrel rolling towards him. Then Wombat had an idea. 'Maybe the excitement of having a new friend has made Mouse thirsty,' he thought and he also thought he could easily carry some water in the barrel. So he got the barrel and filled it with water, which almost drowned poor Tabby. Astonishing spluttering sounds came from the barrel but he continued on his way. When Wombat got to the top of the hill, he showed Mouse the barrel. 'Why Wombat,' exclaimed Mouse, 'Tabby's in the barrel!'
