Title: Cara's War
For many nights Cara Langton, a 14 year old girl from London, had spent the night lying awake with thoughts buzzing around in her head. The year was 1945 and London was the center of the 2nd world war bombings. She lived about 2 minutes away from the main town area and knew that soon her and Micheal, her 11 year old brother would have to be evaccuated. Outside her window, the night sky was filled with bomb fumes and thick black smog filled the sky. Suddenly, she heard to voices outside her house. They sounded like Germans.
'It is not on. All the English are fleeing to the countryside where it is safe. We are not going to win this war if half of the British population are evacuating!' The voice said.
'Sir, I agree, but how can it be fixed?' a voice hesitantly murmurred.
'Send a message to German headquarters. Send the bombers to the countryside, but not a word to anyone. We don't want the English finding out, do we?' the other voice ordered.
'Right away Sir.' And with that the two Germans ran away. Cara had heard the whole plan. She knew she must do some thing, and she had to do it quickly.
The next morning a breakfast, Cara tried to tell her Father about what she had heard last night but there was a huge kerfuffle between her Mother and her brother about the use of the one weekly egg we were rationed.
'I wan't it for my breakfast. It is my turn.' Screamed Micheal.
'Micheal, how can you be so greedy, it is my turn to do what I want with the egg!' Replied Mother. 'Mr and Mrs Banks are coming for afternoon tea so I am going to make a cake.'
'Ok, you can have it, only if you save me some cake though.' Said Micheal.
'Ok, but don't disturb us when they come.' Mother ordered.
'Father?' I asked 'Last night I couldn't sleep and I heard something important outside.'
'Really what?' Father asked.
'I heard two Germans speaking about them loosing all the English to the countryside. They said they were going to send bombers there to kill the evaccues.'
