Title: Oak Alley Part One

Oak Alley; what comes to mind when you hear that? Is it a scary place with ghosts a place with a lot of trees? Neither. It is an old plantation home in soutern Louisianna near New Orleans. I had heard about the rumors that it was haunted and that those who went there were watched by the old residents that used to live there but this is what I think. I went to Oak Alley plantation about two years ago but the memories are as clear as though I am looking at it right now. I can see the old moss draped trees one hundred plus years old. The old plain white colums that hold the house up, the dusty smell of the downstairs cellar and all the rooms in the house. The most familiar memory though would be the feeling that you get when you watch a river. The feeling that time has somehow stopped. It still looks as it did almost two hundred years earlier when slaves used to work in the cotton fields behind it. You almost believe you are in the eighteen hundreds.
My favorite room in the house was that of one of the last known residents it was called Laura's Room.
