Title: Our Journey, Chapter 2
Chapter 2, Charmander vs. Squirtle
After Corey and I received our Pokémon, I said, 'I bet Charmander could beat your stupid Squirtle anytime, anywhere!' 'Well, Fire Pokémon, like Charmander, are weak against Water types here, like Squirtle,' Corey explained. 'Yeah. Sure, whatever,' I said, trying to get Corey furious. 'Oh? You saying that your Pokémon's better than mine? We'll just see about that! Come on I'll take you on!!' Corey yelled. Great, I thought. I try to get him mad and now I have to battle him? What if I lose? What'll happen then?
'Fine. Go, Charmander,' I said. 'Go, Squirtle!' Corey sent out his turtle Pokémon.
'Watch out for the merchandise, please!' Professor Oak called. He then continued to research on his computer (he went on it after Corey and I had chosen Charmander and Squirtle).
'Squirtle, Tackle!' Corey commanded immediately. Squirtle sprang into action. He slammed into Charmander hard, and went flying back against the wall. 'Char...' Charmander murmured, still injured from the impact. Then it narrowed it's eyes, glowering at the Squirtle. 'CHAR!!' it shouted, charging at Squirtle. Charmander connected the attack, sending the two careening into the Pokéball desk's closest leg.
Squirtle's eyes were spinning from the attack. The Pokéball was spinning as well. It rolled over to the side of the desk, fell over, and bounced off Squirtle's head. 'Squir..' it muttered weakly. Squirtle got back to it's feet and charged at Charmander. Squirtle slammed into Charmander full force, causing the two to fall through the floor together. Both Squirtle and Charmander leapt to their little feet. Charmander charged at Squirtle and began scratching away. Charmander was using it's Scratch Attack! Charmander stepped away from Squirtle, allowing the weakened Pokémon to drop. Corey said, 'What? I lost! I chose the wrong Pokémon!' We both returned Squirtle and Charmander to their Balls. 'I won my first Pokémon match!!' I cried.
Corey had left for Viridian City. I stayed for the rest of the night. The next day I headed out for Viridian City as well, wondering what adventures I had ahead of me with Charmander.
