Hacker Havoc, The Legend of Brando

Justin skidded to a halt as he came face to face with Jonathan and Matthew, then he yelped and ran in the other direction. Needless to say, Jonathan and Matthew followed, yelling curses at him. Justin was breathless as he raced around a corner and then ran up the steps to his house.
Ever since he had moved here a couple weeks ago, Justin Luthor had been the new target for the class bullies, Jonathan and Matthew. He hated this house in Chippoa Falls, all he wanted to do was to go back to Chicago, but his father had gotten a new job here and he'd been forced to leave all his friends behind and move to this small town.
Justin sighed and walked over to the refrigerator after slinging his backpack over a chair. After getting a coke from the fridge and setting it down on the table he threw his arms up into the air and said "This! This is my life! If it can be called that".
Justin got up, still holding his coke and jogged upstairs, at least this place was great to explore, he hadn't checked out the attic yet. With a loud groan of simulated disapproval, the door to the attic swung open and Justin stood framed in the doorway as sunlight poured in from a window above. The shelves all around the attic were littered with Star Wars books and even some kids toys. After a couple minutes spent sorting through the old books and figurines and models, Justin set his coke down on a creaky table and walked carefully over to a door that was leaned against a wall on the side of the attic. After about 5 or 10 sweaty, hardworking minutes, Justin managed to heave the door away. After waiting a minute for the dust to settle, Justin began pulling some sheets off of a large box...
Justin took his time tearing open the big cardboard box that was obviously years old. He opened the box and looked inside. Inside, there was a large computer, along with a monitor, and some old computer equipment. Justin grunted and slowly but surely managed to pull all the computer equipment out. "Woa, what's all this outdated junk?" muttered Justin as he pulled off an old envelope and opened it, inside was a note, it said

To whoever finds this precious equipment....
This computer once belonged to a kid named Brando, me, I used to be the greatest hacker there ever was, I'm 17 now and I have to go off to college, besides, I never listened to my mother who told me to stop and January 1st, 1996, after hacking the town's air raid system, I was forced to stop hacking and put away my computer equipment before the police could catch up with me and arrest me. I hope that you will be able to put this top quality computer equipment to good use...

Brando

Justin carefully stored away the note and then began quietly and thoughtfully dusting off the equipment...

One Hour Later...

The screen finally sprang to life. "Yessss" hissed Justin as he scooted closer to the monitor in the kitchen chair he had brought up. The screen went black, then suddenly small blue words appeared in the center of the screen, "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...", then the words disappeared and a boy about Justin's own age appeared, laughing "oh sorry, I just couldn't resist!" said the boy after he had finally gotten control of himself.
"Okedoke, now to start with your training young hacker trainee! First of all, I am Brando Hayes, hacker extraordinare, and kid genius if I do say so myself, anyway, I've always carried in the back of my mind, the fear that I would be found, and shut down, so I recorded this instructional video on how to become as good a hacker as I am. First of all, I'll teach you about all this equipment, which is very essential to a hacker."
Over the next hour, as it became dark outside, Justin stayed at the computer, listening to Brando, and going through all the excercises that he had set up, surprisingly it was kinda fun.
"Brando!!"
"Justin!!"
Both boys' heads snapped up and looked off to the side. "Dang"
"Dang" they both said simultaneously as both their mothers called them to dinner at he same time. "Sorry, trainee, Brando the mighty has been summoned, end of lesson 1, cya tomorrow."
As Justin got up to go downstairs, the screen blanked. Justin turned around and turned off the computer then ran downstairs, dragging the kitchen chair after him.
The next day was Saturday and Justin slept late, when he did get up, his Mom was off at some kind of money management seminar and his father was already leaving for work. Justin got dressed and stumbled into the kitchen, just as his father left. "Bye Justin, cya around 5 tonight!"
"Bye dad" yelled Justin as he poured himself some cereal and sat down at the kitchen table. Suddenly, as he was putting his dishes in the dishwasher, Justin remembered Brando. "Oh no! I'm gonna be late!!"
Justin raced up the stairs and ran into the attic, pulled up an old crate, and switched on the computer screen. Brando stood, tapping his foot and glaring out at Justin. "Salve Discipuli, you're late, if I'm correct, and I ususally am, my alarm already went off and you aren't on time!" "now, back to the basics of hacking". Brando turned around and started to fiddle around with some papers.
"Demented little schoolteacher" muttered Justin quietly.
"And don't call your teacher any names either!!" Yelled Brando turning around. Justin shook his head. This was too weird.
30 minutes later Brando sighed and hesitated. "Now, I don't want you to think I'm some sort of a demented little schoolteacher soooo, let's get ready to rumble!!!", "I have some games here, hackers games, but still, they're fun not educational".
Justin hissed "thank you teachy" as Brando disappeared and the screen was covered in several boxes, all of which had pictures of spaceships or computers and different names. "Hackers paradise, Katarn's Fate, Megavirus..." Justin read off the names in the boxes and finally chose Katarn's Fate.
35 minutes later, Justin sighed and leaned back in his chair as the game screen faded away, leaving only the score box in the middle of the screen. Brando's head poked out from behind the score box and curved around to look at it. "Excellent score Trainee!". Justin grinned and moved his mouse towards Brando. The small figure of Brando turned into a stormtrooper and pulled out a blaster rifle. "Halt right there rebel scum!". Justin paid no heed to the miniature stormtroopers' frantic yells as he chased him around the screen with his mouse.
"Aaaah! Eeeek!! OOOh!!! I am going to hurt you!!" yelled Brando as he leaped all over the screen every time Justin touched him with the mouse pointer. Justin just laughed.
After a couple minutes of this chasing game, the screen blanked and Brando returned to normal size on the screen. Brando said nervously "Umm sorry Trainee, but I must go, I have things to do, places to go, people to meet." In the background, Justin heard "Brando, get down here this minute, what did you do to the neighbor's cat!"
Justin chuckled as Brando ran off the screen. Justin turned off the computer screen and walked out of the attic, leaving the door open, a minute later he came back with a box and began packing up the models and figurines littering the shelves. After setting the last Star Wars figurine on his own shelves, Brando carefully stumbled down to his room holding the computer, then came back for the monitor and so on until he had the entire computer system re-set up in his room. Then he went down to have dinner.
"BBABABABABABABABABABOOOOOM!!" With a yowl, Justin leapt out of bed, and raced around his room looking for whoever it was who was banging the drum. Justin finally ran over to the computer as the drums stopped and found Brando laughing his head off. "Time to wake up trainee! The early hacker gets the megabyte! And don't try and stop me, get up!!"
Justin switched off the screen. Silence, then "Of course, that always helps". Justin turned off the speakers and crawled back into bed.

********************************************************
2 Months Later

Justin was a changed guy, he was far smarter, quick witted, not afraid of anyone or anything, and was now a proffesional hacker through the excellent training of Brando The Hacker. Justin finished his last excercise and watched his scores and statistics for the past 2 months scroll down the screen. Then Brando appeared, dancing around the screen and blowing on a small bazooka. "Yee haa!! If you're seeing me acting like an idiot, then you've reached the full rank of Hacker, I congratulate you, now get some food and candy and let's party!!!"
Justin laughed as he celebrated for a full hour with Brando, playing games, cracking codes, and solving puzzles. Finally they both dropped back down into their respective chairs, exhausted. Brando stood and saluted Justin crisply. "Congratulations, Hacker, may the force be with you, goodbye, remember, only let your most trusted friends, who you would trust with you life know your true identity, good luck" "Oyah, P.S., I would suggest that the first person who's computer you hack should be maybe... say an enemy of yours, goodbye!!"
Brando waved and Justin found himself waving also as Brando disappeared. After Brando was gone, Justin ate a quick dinner with his parents then watched a movie in his room and around 9 pm he went to sleep.
Justin snapped straight up in bed. He had just realized something, he didn't have the internet and he doubted his parents would let him get it. Justin quickly got dressed and ran outside. He sat on his porch for a long time thinking, then he finally got an idea. First of all Justin ran into his house and got wire clippers, electrical tape, and a modem wire which had come with Brando's computer equipment. Then he ran over to his neighbor's backyard, thinking all the time that this plan was outrageous!
One hour later, Justin had finally found his neighbor's power and phone wires, and also, a modem cable. He cut the cable then quickly crossed it with one of the 20 foot modem wires he had brought along. Then he put on some electrical tape to hold them together and reburied the wires. Quickly, because dawn was only about an hour off, Justin ran over and located the old modem wires to his own house, the ones that Brando had once used, he quickly rerouted his neighbor's modem into his own. Justin sighed and, finally content, went to his room to catch about 30 minutes of sleep.
The next morning, Justin woke up, it was a Saturday and He had nothing to do. Justin ate breakfast as usual and thought about what to do. He decided to try his new hacking abilities on... Jonathan Iblis...
Justin opened up the internet directory that had been used so many time by Brando, and like Brando had done many times, searched through his list of targets until he found his appropriate victim. He selected Jonathan's name, and while his computer started to run different sets of passwords, attempting to hit the correct password for entrance, Justin opened up an additional box of diskettes which had different names on them, scrawled in a young boy's handwriting. Justin carefully slid out one marked "Don't touch unless you're a hacker!!" and then put it into his floppy drive. He selected the most deadly of viruses from the diskette and by then, he was in Jonathan's computer...
That night, two computers blew up without warning.

Lansing, Michigan

A young man in a university walked down the university's silent hallway on his way to breakfast, on the way he passed a newspaper sitting on a table beside the University's main door. He picked it up and flipped to the section about Chippoa Falls. The headline read
'Two computers mysteriously explode in Chippoa Falls, Hackers suspected'
"Yesterday in Chippoa Falls, the computers of Jonathan Iblis and Matthew Garaint mysteriously sparked, caught fire, and exploded, the authoritites suspect foul play, or even hackers"
Brando Hayes' eyes traveled away from the paper as he set it down again. He grinned as he walked down the hallway, then he chuckled, then he began laughing out loud as he strolled down the hallway with sunlight pouring down all around him.
