Title: Holes

Holes is a book by Louis Sachar. Holes is a book of danger, of determination. Holes is a book that will change your life.
Stanley Yelnats, (whose name, you may note, is the same backward as forwards) has been convicted of a crime he did not commit. He has a long tale of bad luck running throughout his family, and the bad luck is therby inherited by the next generation. And so he is sent to camp, where he must dig a hole each day 5 feet by 5 feet by5feet in the blistering hot sun. To build stamina is the apparent reason. But Stanley feels there is another mystery behind this ordeal. Something about death, and adventure. Something about the Kissing Kate Barlow, about the Big Thunb, About Spoosh, a story that he is yet to know when pieced together is part of his own ancestry. His own past. Terrible lizards, onions, strange lipstick containers all find their way into this compelling story, and I would reccommend it to anyone who is prepared to be scared, suspended, amused or excited by this brilliant masterpiece.
