Chapters 3-5
Chapter 3
The Hobgoblin
The group set off on their journey again. They come across a bridge. From beneath the bridge out jumped a Hobgoblin. Yelling wildly, he exclaimed, “How dare you kill my friend! You will have to kill me as well in order to pass.”
“David,” Sir Keaton said, “This time you fight.”
“Yes, Sir.” Said David. “I will fight that big sixteen-eyed, four-armed, eight-legged, dirty Hobgoblin!”
So, the battle began.
David zipped, dodged and jumped, with the help of his magic sword; he finally succeeded in cutting off one of the Hobgoblin’s arms. Then, he cut off the other three arms and six of his legs. Only two legs were remaining. The Hobgoblin thrashed and kicked wildly but David dodged it all. Then, David cut off one more leg so all the Hobgoblin could do was body-slam David. Then, David jumped as high as he could and cut off the Hobgoblin’s head.
“Yes!” Yelled David. “Let’s move on!”
Chapter 4
The Goblin and the Sphinx
So they did. They walked and walked until they came to a stream. There they met a Goblin.
“You killed two of my friends!” He roared. “You will pay!”
“Becca,” said Sir Keaton, “This time, you fight.”
“Okay, Sir.” Said Becca. Becca disappeared under her invisibility cloak. The Goblin could not see her. She got the Goblin all confused and then she came up out of nowhere and cut his head off.
“Okay,” said Becca, “Let’s go!”
So, they did. Out of nowhere they met a sphinx. It was like an over-large lion with a human head.
“To pass me, you must answer my riddle.” Said the sphinx.
Sir Keaton said, “Timothy, this time you try and get us passed.”
“Yes Sir,” said Timothy, “I will try to answer the riddle. He turned and said to the sphinx, “Can I have the riddle?”
“Yes.”
She gave him the riddle:
I tell naught but lies
And I have eight eyes
I always kill my mate
You will perish at your fate.
“Spy… er”… “Spy… er”… “Spy… er”… Timothy thought out loud.
“Oh, a spider!” Timothy exclaimed.
“You are right. You and your companions may pass.” Said the sphinx.
