Title: 1st year in Reffeny School
Chapter 2
"So Alex, do you have a dad?"
"Yes but he and mum got divorced.
"Oh I'm sorry."
We walked further up the spiral staircase.
"Oh well here we are!" I said opening the door with a little Rabbit on the front of it.
We walked in. The room was full of girls my age. I don't think everyone was there.
There were 13 beds in total, 8 of which were taken. I said a quiet "Hello" to everyone there and looked around.
It was a lovely little room. All 3 beds near windows were taken and the 2 either side of the door was taken too. 1 bed next to the wall was taken as well. There was 4 left next to the wall and 2 in the middle of the room.
"Hey" I said to Alex, "why don't we take those 2?" (I'd already made up my mind that I wanted to have Alex as my friend).
"Oh sorry you have to take those 2," said a small mousy-haired girl with glasses, "This 1 is for my twin whose coming in later because of her cold!"
"O.K then."
Alex and me walked up to the beds and dumped our suitcases on them.
As soon as we did that a fat little lady walked into the room.
"Come on girls, we have to go downstairs and introduce you to you're new teacher!"
The little fat lady trumped down in front of us. Alex and me were left at the back, while a tall girl with black hair walked in front looking like a senior.
We trumpled into the small classroom. I rushed up to ask the fat lady a question.
"Is there only 12 girls here?"
"Yes honey, it's a private school here!"
I looked to the front of the class to see a pretty lady sitting at her desk.
"O.K kids, grab a seat!" said the lady at the front.
Immediately everyone rushed to the back but because Alex and me were at the back of the queue we just sat down slyly.
There were only 4 back seats. Alex, me, a small girl with braces and the little mousy girl got them!
"O.K class my name is Mrs. Burchill, I would like, whoever I point to, to say their name!"
1st it was the bracey girl whose name was Alanis. 2nd the mousy girl whose name was Deon. 3rd me!
4th Alex. 5th, a pretty girl with chocolate hair in a ribbon called Gillian. 6th, the senior look-a-like Erika.
7th a girl with short, curly, black hair whose name was Cassedy. And finally a tall girl with 2 blond bunchies called Shelly. The 9th girl was away with a cold, the 10th was coming tomorrow and the 11th and 12th.
"Well it's nice to meet you class, today we will be having a few test's to see what level we all are on."
"Oh no!" I thought, "What if she does math's papers!"
"Erika could you please hand out the sheet's?"
"Yes Mrs. Burchill."
Erika handed me a sheet. I looked at it.
"Hmm. It looks quite easy, a few math's ones in there."
I started working. "This is quite easy, I wonder how Alex is doing?"
Alex looked like she was doing great. No surprise. She does look quite smart.
We handed our papers in.
"O.K class you may go to break and I will mark you're paper's."
I walked out, whispering to Alex "How do you think you did?"
"Well it was a bit easy, how about you?"
"I thought it was O.K, but I'm not very good at math's!"
"Oh I'm not so good in science!"
"Me neither!"
Just then Gillian appeared:
"Hey guys do you want to come and play Cops and Robbers with me and Cassedy?"
"Sure, how about you Alex?"
"(Sigh) O.K."
"Great, CASSEDY THEY'LL PLAY, come on guys let's go sort out teams!"
She ran off towards Cassedy. Me and Alex followed her.
"O.K me and Cassedy are robber's and you 2 are cops."
"Is that O.K?" asked Cassedy. "Can you 2 run fast?"
"I'm O.K," said Alex.
"Well…I did win a scholarship for sprinting here?"
"WOW! Did you, not many people did!" said Gillian.
I nodded and looked at Alex. I'm not sure but I think she was a bit jealous.
So…we played a long game of cops and robbers. Of course the cops won!
The bell rang and we went back into class. I looked at my desk.
"Uh oh we got our test's back!"
Strangely I got l.4, but Alex got l.5+!
That afternoon we did a lot of history and science (groan)!
I thought Mrs. Burchill was really nice indeed. Another thing happened; Deon's twin arrived!
And can I say she didn’t look much like the small, mousy Deon!!!
She was tall and pretty with blond hair and blue eyes (glasses free)!
Her name was Daphne, and can I tell you, I didn't like her the moment she walked in.
1st of all she had a right go at Deon for not "saving her a back seat!"
2nd she told her to move, so she did!
And 3rd when told she was to do the test that we did she started coughing and complained that she still had a tummy ache!
Well by now it was dinnertime. And what a dinner it was!
There was cold chicken with bread rolls, hot potatoes in parsley sauce, cauliflower sauce, big chocolate cake pudding and huge jugs of icy lemonade!
"Night, night everyone!" whispered Alanis.
"Night!" I whispered back. It really was lovely here. I tried to peek over Gillian's head. I managed to see the star's shining brightly through the window. Arr what a lovely school!
