Title: Living on My Machine.
First I am going to tell you where this poem came from. My foster sister Kat, 14 years of age, is sick, and dying from something doctor's don't know of. She has a breathing machine she lives off of, and she hates it so much because she wants to feel normal like every other kid, and it hurts her even more knowing she'll never get better. But one time when I was sitting with her, by her bed, I sang her a song, and she couldn't talk so she wrote me how she felt, and I found the poem to be very touching, so I decided to post it up on here, so people could remember the words from a sweet little girl... Here it goes:
Living on my Machine

I try to make things easier for myself,
So I hide my pain inside,
I wait until dark night,
And close my heart and cry.
I look aside at my machine,
And see my heart rate is low,
Sometimes I just feel like
Strongly letting go.
I look at everyone else,
And see they're not sick,
I hate myself because I am,
I don't want to live like this.
The doctor's say 'You're not okay.'
And they all have gave up hope,
So I sit and cry,
And hope to die,
Waiting until I choke.
My days are long,
And my nights are cold,
All because,
I'll never get old.
I hope to soon get better,
So I hold inside,
And believe a lie,
Living on my machine.
