Title: Pearl of Zoaras

Guests swarmed around the kingdom’s garden, each dressed in exquisite summer gowns and smart tuxedoes. Queen Anne glimpsed out of the window and gasped. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach and she sat down abruptly, overwhelmed by the people. The King emerged from behind the tall stone statue. He rested his hand on her shoulder. "Let’s go," he whispered into her ear. His strong calm tone regained her confidence. Anne pushed the heavy door slightly, and was greeted by a cheer from the crowd.
"How could you keep us waiting so long, Anne?" teased Ruby, her eldest sister. Anne had finally been coaxed out of the castle and out into the beautiful garden. She was dressed in an elaborate white wedding gown, with a long train trailing behind her. Anne was glad she came out. Being in her own garden made her feel proud of all the work she had put into making it look so grand. A piece of cake on one of the flowered plates was handed to her. She looked up. King Peregrine grinned at her. She smiled back.

"The wedding went quite well, didn’t it, dear?" the King commented. Anne nodded absently. She flew into the changing room and just as quickly appeared again dressed in a simple dress and an overcoat. The wedding gown was draped over her arm. She hung it up and strolled over to the big balcony overlooking the garden. The moon shone brightly upon her mouse brown hair. King Peregrine joined her soon after and they both gazed down at the garden, illuminated only by the dimly lit lamp.
Suddenly, a strange force began to tug her. First lightly, then it pulled her right off the balcony. She tumbled off the ledge. She tried to scream but nothing came out. Surprisingly, she landed softly onto the cold hard ground. She sat up cautiously. She was seated beside a bed of blue pansies. The moonlight shone gently on the graceful petals of the flower. She noticed a small hole. It was barely noticeable. Anne, unable to contain her excitement, stuck her hand inside without hesitating. When she withdrew her trembling hand, there was a strange key in her palm. Without warning, a hand seized her arm from behind. Anne let out a shriek.
"Anne, wake up!" King Peregrine was shaking her, and fear was in his dark eyes. Anne checked her surroundings. She was back on the balcony. She searched her palm. The key was gone. She fell to her knees and searched for the key to see if she had dropped it. The king watched anxiously, then as though he had been under a spell, he shook his head and pulled Anne up.
"Come on, you nearly scared me to death, trying to jump off the balcony," Peregrine led the Queen back into the room. Anne was very puzzled indeed. Was it all just a dream? It just seemed too real.
Finally, after almost eternity, she fell into a feverish sleep.
