Title: the Scientist

First I'd like to say something: this is only one chapter to a very long story I am writing. Here is a background look- this Damien is wearing enemy clothing as a spy, and is abducted by a Zinth, a really scarry alien created by humans (they sprouted from the cure to the disease that nearly made humans extinct). I hope you enjoy Chapter Five of:
GODS OF GOOD AND EVIL

The Scientist
Damien stood in disbelief. The creature he faced was unlike
anything he had ever encountered. "Damien, came Matthias’
voice. "That thing is a zinth." Dameon had heard the name 'zinth’ somewhere before, but where?
In the lab, where they developed the cure of the virus.
The zinth showed its oversized teeth. It slowly bent down until
its head was inches away from Dameon’s. "Come," it said in a
hellish voice. "You must know"
"What’s it saying?" Zeus said.
"Shut up!" came the voice of a Hailian soldier.
"Dameon," said Matthias in a whisper. "What did it say?"
"It said I must come with it!"
"Are you mad? Our only bond with them is an unreadable document. How can you understand that gibberish?"
Dameon was obviously the only one who could understand the
thing. "Okay," he whispered. "Okay!"
The zinth grabbed Dameon in its colossal fist and ran off into the zinth forest. Matthias yelled no, and the others stared in shock. Dameon was afraid that the creature would crush him in its palm.
The zinth raced through the woods at an amazing speed, dodging every tree. Its skin appeared slimy, but Damien instead felt a course surface that reminded him of leather. Since Damien was trapped between the things enormous fist, all he could see was a whitish blob and fuzzy brown rods zip by. By the time the ride was over, Damien would have puked.
The zinth stopped suddenly and gently placed Damien on his feet. When the fist opened Damien was awe struck. The sight of a glass dome like building made him forget of his nausea. It was no bigger than a small house.
Inside the dome a weird, black machine could be seen. It had a sort of door attached to it, like an elevator. The zinth walked to the thing and touched it. An opening began to form- like a bubble, the kind you make with the plastic sticks. It began to show off warped neon color- like a bubble does. The oval opening forming in it looked as if that too was being blown into the thing. When the doorway was the size of the zinth, it stopped. Now it was a glass dome with a hole in it.
"Come," the zinth said. Damien followed it into the dome. The machine was an elevator, and they both descended into the earth.
The thing went ding, and the doors slid open. Damien gasped as he laid eyes on a colony of zinths. In front of him was a black platform with railing. Far into the distance was a huge wall made of floor after floor after floor of the black steel grate floor. It looked like a building inside out. As he walked along side of the zinth onto the platform that extended to the big wall, Damien saw they were inside a gigantic dome. All around were those weird walls. The roof was huge, made of glass (and displayed the soil above them). The whole place was like a bowl turned up side down, except millions of times bigger. And zinths were everywhere.
The zinth walked back to the elevator. "Where you going?" asked Damien.
"When you know the truth, meet me here." The zinth said, and the elevator doors slid shut.
Damien sighed. A chill of fear went down his spine as he walked forward. As he walked he found the path he was walking on branched off from the center, like an X. In the very center of the intersection was an open hatch with a long ladder that led down… down… down into the darkness. He also saw that this X pathway existed on all of the hundreds of floors below him. By this time some eight zinths had passed and ignored him. He was safe from the creatures (in this complex they wandered about their business orderly, like drones), but he was not sure about the place. "Where do I go?" Damien said aloud.
"Down," came an eerie voice. Damien looked up into the red eyes of a zinth. "for the truth." It finished, and descended the ladder.
Damien stood there for a while, staring down the ladder. Do I go down? He thought. Or is this all a trap? No. If it were a trap he would already be dead.
Damien chose to go down the ladder.
