Title: The Scientist

Chapter Five continued:
GODS OF GOOD AND EVIL

For what seemed like days, Damien descended the ladder. Around him he could hear the murmuring, grumbling kind of language the zinths spoke. None took notice of him- they just wandered about their business.
Finally, he reached the bottom. The ladder ended before it touched the ground and Damien had to jump off. Those Hailian boots didn’t fit right and they hurt when he hit the ground. Damien stretched out and took a look around.
Above him he could see through the grate floor. Zinths wandered about. The bottom floor itself had a black marble floor. The basement floor was a circle room, the ends leading into a reddish glow. There was one zinth standing a few yards away, looking at Damien with a cocked head.
"Hello," Damien said to it. "I need help."
"You’re in the B-1 annex room," the thing said slowly. "Just above the revolving device."
"Where is this revolver?"
"Below the glow." it looked back for a few seconds and said even slower, "where the zinths are born."
"Is it safe?"
"For you? Depends."
"On what?"
"Your skill."
"What skill?"
Silence.
"What are you talking about!"
It looked at the light without moving its head.
Damien took a deep breath and walked toward the glow.
As he walked through it his body was filled with a burning sensation that tingled. He didn’t know what it was doing to his body. Must be strong, he thought. He walked right through without a pause. Have to be strong.
He was surprised to walk right out of it a few steps later and feel nothing. He was now standing on a huge gigantic circular grate pathway that premiered the red glow. All of a sudden it began to descend. The mechanical hum was all that could be heard in the engulfing darkness.
About a minute passed when all of a sudden the elevator, or whatever it was, came to a stop. It slammed gently on some kind of floor. Weird hissing sounds could be heard in the distance. Then the sound of where house lights could be heard as whitish light came from almost nowhere, dimly illuminating the strange world. From the blackness some kind of ship could be seen coming.
It was not a ship, but a circular platform big enough for Damien to stand on. It descended to his feet.
Damien took a step.
Soon he was gliding into the realm of the unknown, the unknown Damien felt he had created for some vague inner feeling.
The time spent flying about in this void of darkness was about a minute or to. The farther he went, the farther the white light became. Then the thing under Damien’s feet stopped suddenly. Damien almost fell off the device. The light was gone, but he could still see the flying object below him perfectly.
This darkness was supernatural.
A ball of light formed in front of him. It took the shape of some kind of gun. It looked like the bottom of a gun with a frizbee for a barrel. It had a glass oval thing at the top with swirling purple gas inside of it. Damien took it.
"Time to test thy skill." Came a voice from all directions. It was human.
