Title: The Scientist

Chapter Five continued:
GODS OF GOOD AND EVIL
A strange shifting sound caught his attention. He looked up. In the distance a sphere could be seen. It had an axle going through it vertically, and the tips sprouted into funnels. It looked like a strange hourglass. The sphere revolved in several directions. It seemed to be made of large thick plates. These plates, about ten in all, spun in different directions. It made a pulsing sound and glowed.
The revolving device- where zinths were born.
Damien stood. Behind the thing was a wall. The wall was of a bluish metal. It had a set of windows at the top, and slanted inward at the middle, like a mold for a very huge donut. The wall curved around at a slight angle. This was another circular room- a very large one. The hourglass thing was on a square platform that branched off the weird wall. The flying platform glided to the base of the revolving device and stopped in the middle of the space between the huge machine and the light-bluish wall. Damien stepped off- and the flying thing darted off into the dark.
Damien stared with his mouth open as the transporter flew off. He grunted and turned to face the device. He stood at the base, looking up. It was tremendous in size. Bigger than three white houses made into a ball was all Damien could say for sure to himself. From here sparks could be seen coming off of it. One of them landed on his bare arm, making him jump and slap at it.
Damien pocketed the blaster as best he could in his right pocket. The pocket was sewn on, and was the only pocket he had. It had a few quarters in it. That was like Ronald. He always needed to carry around some extra change. The only part of the gun that could fit was the saucer. The coins needed to be taken out. Damien sighed and dropped them onto the floor.
A slamming sound came from the wall. There was a door there, the heavy kind with two push sections found in warehouses. A man dressed in a white lab coat came walking forth. Damien reached for the gun.
"I didn’t give you that gun so you could kill humans," he said. It was the voice from the dark. "But to kill monsters." Damien let his arms hang on his sides.
"Its good to see you again Damien," he said. "I am sorry about the ams, but I had to test you. It’s a policy around here."
"Wait- ams? What do you mean by ‘see me again’?"
"Arm Monsters, and I am your brother, Ronald."
There was an awkward silence. Damien stared at the stranger with an eyebrow down. "Uh huh," he said. "And I am the creator of all that is good."
"I am serious, brother!" the man smiled. "That Hailian you killed was a decoy! I didn’t want you to feel sorry for your brother’s, my, disappearance. So I made a clone in the lab up there" he pointed to the windows. "And sent it with the Hailians. I hope you forgive me."
"Yeah. If you are really Ronald, where did he grow up?"
"Away from you, in Texas. Mom and dad divorced and each took one of us. You grew up in New Hampshire. We didn’t meet until the fall of 1994."
Damien had both eyebrows down. He swallowed, licked his upper teeth, and said, "What’s my favorite color?"
"Blue."
"What was my grade percent average of fifth grade?"
"88%."
"What did I say it was?"
"95%."
"How do you know that?"
"How can we both remember?"
That was the identification. Ronald always said, "how can we both remember". That was his response to "how do you know that".
