Title: "The Ultimate Quest"
Albus Newton The Ultimate Quest
Chapter-2 "The Training Begins"
I went to bed early that night so I would be ready the next day. That is when we will begin our training. I tried to get to sleep soon, but it was hard knowing that I was going to embark on the most exciting adventure of my life. I couldn't believe what Seppledore had told me, him and I the most powerful force in the world.
I woke up the next morning at about eight o'clock. I ate some breakfast and went outside to find Seppledore.
When I finally found him he was in some weird clothes and flying around in his back yard.
"Well Albus are you ready to begin your Bin-konna training?"
"Yeah, I guess, but what is Bin-konna?"
"Bin-konna is one of the most sophisticated arts of battle. It is designed only for Kentaykanas, like you and I. In this art you will learn to fly and use magic. Normal wizards cannot fly. We have that special power, but all wizards use magic. The only other kind of wizard that can fly are the dark lords and their servants. They use the most powerful art of evil magic. They are the ones you have to look out for. The dark lord's servants will obey everything that they say, even if it means killing themselves for their masters will. Sephiroth is the dark lord of our time. He is the seventh descendent of the greatest evil, Guygeis Spite. He ruled all the evil for five hundred years. When he ruled, five of the wizard villages became his own to rule. Since then, Narlington, Vanburen, Paxington, Oak Valley, and Boarland are under the evil powers' rule. The only free villages are Nesstador, Hollyvil, and our village, Dragon Nest. If we can defeat Sephiroth, then we can regain the rest of the villages.
"I sure am."
"So lets begin."
We started out by fighting each other. He didn't try his hardest, he just wanted me to learn some basic moves. He didn't show any mercy either. He said he was fighting me at a level that I would have a chance. I don't think he was accurate in saying that, because when we were done that day I had a bloody nose, bloody lip, a black eye, and a number of other cuts and bruises. I felt like I was stronger than before, because we fought from morning to evening, and he taught me some things on the way. I wanted to go to the nurse and get all healed up, but Seppledore said that I won't ever learn anything if I just go heal every time I have some cuts and bleed a little. I could see his point, but I still wanted to be healed since I knew I could.
When we went back into the house he told me he had to go run some errans. He left me at the house to make dinner. He gave me the recipe for chicken stew, and then he left.
I cooked and cooked until Seppledore got back. We sat down at the table and began eating. I was pretty surprised to find out that my cooking skills weren't half bad. The stew actually tasted pretty good. We ate for a second when Seppledore broke the silence.
"I talked to a man that lives on the other side of the village. He said that a stranger to these parts was spotted today. I guess he snuck in somehow and was spying. I knew that the dark forces would find out about you training. They always know these things. I thought that it might take a little while longer though. They can already sense your power, and this was only your first day of training. They will probably start sending people to take care of us. I think that they will send they're weakest people first to find out how strong we both are. It will probably take about a week though, so that they can make preparations, but in the meantime we will have to double-time the training. We will start at sunrise and we won't stop until sundown. That will give us a about fourteen hours of training. You will need it though. So for the next week we will pretty much be training, eating, and sleeping. I hope you are up to it."
"That sure does mean alot of training, but I will do whatever it takes." I replied.
"All right, then we should finish eating and head for bed. Tomorrow is a big day, and we are going to be training extra hard, so we need all the sleep we can get."
We finished the rest of our stew, and then we headed for bed. I was sort of nervous about fighting, but I knew by the time they came I would be ready. I was very tired that night because of our training, so right when my head hit the pillow I was asleep.
I was rudely awakened by Seppledore the next morning. I looked out the window and the sun was barely over the mountain tops. I was still very tired and would have rather stayed in bed, but I had to start training again. I got up, fixed a bowl of cereal, and headed out the door.
We started training like we did the previous day, except we trained harder. I was sweating all over in less than twenty minutes. I knew know what he meant by training extra hard.
That night I was so tired I could barely eat supper. We had trained all day long, only stopping for getting some water, some lunch, and if I was lucky a bathroom break. I devoured the food, and went to bed, I don't think I was ever as tired anytime in my life like I was then.
Once again I was woken very early in the morning. I didn't mind it as much that morning though, because I was starting to get used to it. Only a few more days of this "extra hard" training and I will get to sleep in once again.
We started to train right when I got outside. I could tell I was making a big improvement. My endurance was by far better than it was a few days before. I felt as if I could run all day long.
I was wrong in thinking that. I felt worse that day than I did the day before. I didn't know if I would be able to walk back into the house without falling asleep. I barely even bothered in getting anything to eat. I was too tired to do anything, so I just went to sleep. I was happier that night though. Seppledore said I was learning faster than he expected. He told me that by the next night I might be able to fly, and use a little magic.
The next morning I wasn't rudely awakened, I woke up by myself. I was already adjusting to our training every morning. I wasn't awake long when Seppledore came into the room thinking he was going to wake me up. I grabbed a little bit to eat,(I was pretty hungry since I didn't eat the night before.) and then I headed outside.
That morning was already proving to be the best day of training. I was stronger than ever before, and was actually enjoying myself. I could fight using the art of Bin-konna. I could only fight then though, I didn't know any magic at all. We fought like usual until about nine o'clock. Then he spoke.
"Albus, you are learning to fight well already, do you think you are ready to learn something a little bit harder?"
"Like what?"
"I think you are ready to fly. Then, after you learn that I will teach you some magic."
"Okay, whatever you think, I'm up for anything."
This training took all day long. I still could not totally fly perfectly though. I could stay in the air for a little while, then I would fall back down, but I could tell I was getting somewhere.
I awoke the next morning by myself again, but this time Seppledore was waiting for me. He had something beside him in a case, and it looked long.
"Well good morning Albus, how are you?"
"I'm feeling pretty good, but a little tired."
"Oh, this might cheer you up a little bit."
Seppledore handed me the case, it felt heavy, and I had no idea what it was.
"What in the world is this Seppledore?"
"This my friend, is a sword. It was mine when I was your age. I could never use it though. It was my worse attribute. I never have used it in a fight, because I am no good with it. I think you could be though, and today you are going to train with it. Here is a sheath to go with it too. You can sling it on your back. When ever you need it you can take it right out. I think you could do good with a sword."
"Okay, thanks. Oh yeah, am I going to learn more about flying today too?"
"Yes, when you are done with your flying lessons we will go on to swordsmanship."
After he said that we went into the backyard to train.
It took me until three o'clock to finally learn to fly. Flying was my hardest training course of all. I was happy to finally be able to do it though. Flying is the neatest thing I ever did. I didn't have much time to enjoy it though, after we were done we went right into swordsmanship.
Training with a sword was fun. It wasn't as hard as flying either. I caught on fast. Seppledore said I was a natural. We were finally ready for a battle, they just had to show up first.
The next day we did some touch-ups on the training, I knew all the basics, but I still had alot left to do. I did know enough to fight.
We trained until atleast two o'clock. That is when we got a surprise.
We heard people talking, but we couldn't see anyone. I looked over at Seppledore, and he was staring up to the sky. I looked up too, and then I saw the people talking. There were two guys with brown hair and in battle uniforms.
"Who are these people Seppledore?"
"I dunno, but they don't look very nice. Grab your sword and get ready."
I did what I was told and grabbed my sword, and stuck it into my sheath, and slung it over my bakc. We both flew up, and we they started to talk.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Seppledore Longs. Who is this other little baby with you?"
"His name is Albus Newton. I wouldn't underestimate us though. That is a big downfall in battle."
"Yeah right old man. You guys couldn't touch us if your lives depended on it."
"Big talk for a little man." Seppledore replied.
"That's it you guys are goin down!"
The guy that was talking charged forward at Seppledore. They started to fight, and I looked over at the other one. He wasn't as big as the guy fighting Seppledore. We looked at each other for a moment and I made the first move. We both went to the ground to fight. I sprang forward and we started throwing kicks and punches. He stuck his arms out and a lightning bolt shot out. It clipped my arm, and I shot to the ground. I looked up and Seppledore was still up in the air battling it out. I looked back and I got a boot in my face. Blood shot out from my lip, and I was laying with my face to the ground. He picked me up and threw my into a tree.
"Hmph, I thought the old man said you guys were tough. You are like a mere insect."
"Whatever, if you think you are so strong bring it on!" I replied viciously.
I got back up and looked at him. I ran at him and punched him right in the face. He fell and I jumped on him. I threw a few punches and he threw me off like a rag doll. He had a bloody nose, and a couple cuts on his left arm.
"That wasn't very nice you little punk! Now you are really going down!"
He flew up into the air and dive-bombed down head first. He kicked me right in the side at full speed. I shot right into Seppledore's house. I walked out of the whole I made, and flew into the air. He shot up like a bullet too. He came at me at full speed again and I pulled out my sword as fast as I could. He got ready to attack and I grabbed him by his head and threw him into the ground. He hit the ground at breakneck speed and stopped moving. I followed him down with sword still in hand and checked to see if he was still alive. He still had a pulse, but he was unconscience. I went into the house to try to find some rope. After I found some I went back out to the crumpled up body, and tied him up. Seppledore was still battling it out. He noticed that I won, but he kept on fighting. I just sat down and watched.
A while later the battle was finally over. It was a close fight, but Seppledore won easily. He punched the guy and threw him into a pond which the man never came back out of. Seppledore came back down to the ground, he was bleeding in a few places and had a broken arm.
"Good show Albus. I knew we could win, but that was a semi easy fight. The next one will be harder. The good news is that our power grows after every battle we win. These guys weren't too hard so we grew a little bit in power. The attribute of gaining power after each battle won is only an attribute that Kentaykana's have. Normal people don't have it. Not even evil people have it. Other people have to train to become as strong as we can become after a couple of battles. That is one of our advantages. Well, enough talk, I need to go to Miss Dalser and heal my arm. A broken arm is no good to anyone. That is the only thing we will fix though. Our cuts and bruises will stay so that they can heal by themselves. You know what I said before, " If you heal a cut or bruise you will never learn anythng about pain."
"Alright, but what do we do with this trash?" As I pointed to the my tied up foe.
Seppledore threw some water over the man's face and he came back to earth. Seppledore untied him, gave him a nasty look and then spoke.
"We will let you go this time, but next time you won't get so lucky, now be off! Oh yeah, send Sephiroth my regards."
After saying this the beat up man flew away at full speed toward the mountains, and we headed for the hospital.
It was fairly simple to get Seppledore's arm healed. It only took a couple of minutes. We went home to rest so that we could train the next day. I needed to learn a little magic so that my competetors didn't have the upper-hand in battle. So we went home and headed for our beds.
We woke the next morning an hour late since we didn't have to train as hard anymore. We actually ate a breakfast too, then we went out to the back yard as usual.
The only thing that we worked on was magic. I learned how to shoot lightning bolts and fire balls. Those are the two basic moves. The hardest moves are the mind maneuvers. When you know that, trees, water, land forms, anything non-living can move at your will. Seppledore couldn't even do that yet. Another of the hardest skills is regeneration. When you know that your limbs can grow back in a manor of minutes, but only your arms and legs. That would probably prove to be pretty useful.
It took all day to learn those two moves, but then I could shoot fire balls and lightning bolts. Since that took all day it was already time for bed. So we went inside to eat dinner.
We ate some soup and sandwiches for supper, and we talked a little about our battle. Seppledore thought that I fought good for a beginner. He could tell I was a true Kentaykana
I was not very tired when we went to bed, magic training isn't as tiring as actual training. I opened the door to my room and all of the sudden it slammed shut. Behind the door was a scroungy looking man with no shoes on.
"So you are the little one who messed up my friend huh?"
"Yeah that would be me. I wouldn't have done it if he would have backed off."
"Oh, so that is the way it is. You act tough for a little baby. What do you say I just dispose of you right now? I don't want you causing any more trouble around here, you now."
"You know what? I don't really care what you want to do to me. All you guys from Sephiroth are the same, cocky. So if you want a go, then am right here waiting."
"That is it! You should have died yesterday you lucky little punk!"
He jumped at me and threw me on the bed, I hit my hed on the bedpost and got a bad headache. Seppledore came and opened the door slightly to see what was goin on. He saw me laying there on the bed with my head bleeding and the man walking toward me. Somehow I felt a horrid rush flow through my body. My eyes went totally white. I must have got one hundred times stronger when this rage hit me. The man's face turned white as a ghost. Suddenly, I grabbed the guy, and flew up until his head went through the ceiling, and I threw him back down to the floor so fast that Seppledore couldn't even see him. He slammed into the floor of my room and plummeted atleast seven feet into the ground. He didn't move much after that. I looked up at Seppledore and he also looked pretty nervous, and that is when it all went blank. I passed out right on my bed and didn't wake until morning.
Seppledore told me the next day that he had never seen anything like what happened last night. It was pretty amazing I guess, but I didn't know how I did it.
"How did I do that last night?"
"I really don't know. I haven't seen that kind of power from someone your age before, it might be a hidden power of yours. Maybe when you feel more mad than you have ever felt in all of your life your hidden power shows up to relieve you. You did hit that bedpost very hard last night. There was blood all over your sheets. I'm going to have to buy new ones, but atleast you are alright. There is also a little mess on the floor, you took good care of that garbage, he looked stronger than the one you beat the other day. I'm pretty proud of you. I guess you learn from the best. Since today is Saturday we get a break for the weekend. I think you have learned enough for a good weeks work, and I don't want you to feel like you are living in a prison. So go have a little fun, I have a little work to do in your room now that there is a hole in the wall and in the floor.
I was wondering why Seppledore didn't wake me up at six o'clock that morning. I didn't get up until atleast ten. I felt totally refreshed finally being able to sleep a little bit. Seppledore was hammering nails in and had a vaccum goin, so I left to venture into the village.
There is not much in the village, it is quite boring. Most of the people were in their houses. I was just about to go back to Seppledore's house when I heard something in the bushes to my left. I turned my head sharply to see what it was. Two guys in black and blue cloaks were standing there side-by-side.
"Who are you guys, and what do you want?"
They didn't answer, they just looked at each other and charged forward. They both blasted me down to the ground with an energy ball. I got up and flew up into the air. They both followed. I charged forward and got a good shot on one them. He fell to the ground but flew up as fast as he could. I looked at the other one and got him with a bolt of lightning. It only stunned him. Once again they were flying side-by-side. I didn't know what to do. I went to the ground because my air battle failed. I ran toward the first one that got to the ground and he grabbed me, he looked at me for a second then threw me into a building. I crashed threw the concrete wall and a book case toppled on top of me. I waited in there for them to come in but they never did. So I went back outside. I didn't see them anywhere. I looked up and all I saw was a fist and a foot. I was back on the ground, bleeding all over. I couldn't get up, I was waiting for Seppledore to come to the rescue, but he never did. The two men s
"I say we just kill him right now."
"No the boss wants him alive."
"So what. What if he gets a lucky escape or something?"
"Oh he won't. Not with us here. You saw him fight us, he stinks. He had to get lucky in killing the others that have been here."
"Yeah, I guess your right, and I don't like to see boss' temper. Lets just pick him up and get out of here."
So they did exactly what they said. One of them picked me up and started carrying me. I knew that I was in trouble now. I was going to meet Sephiroth and be killed.
