Title: order of the phoenix

the 5th book is, in my opinion, by far, the best. i started reading it 28th july (couldn't get my hands on it earlier), and finished it in 3 days (100 pages in the first 2 days, and 770 pages on the third day cuz the book was really bugging me :)

the plot is, like in the past books, as thrilling and complex as ever. there are a few dissapointments and surprises i.e. Harry is now a very bitter and frustrated teen, taking out his anger on anyone and everyone, not caring if it might lead him to deep trouble; also the part where Dumbledore says, 'i'm going to tell you everything' is not as explicit or as surprising as i hoped it to be. I realized what the 'secret about Harry's past' would be before i read the book, which led me to a utter dissapointment. I expected the secret to be more complex and absorbing, however it turned out very general. Even after finishing the book, i had many questions in mind that Dumbledore or other characters could've answered when they tried to tell Harry about his past.

some issues in the book are not taken as seriously as readers would guess and hope. I was surprised that Rowling spent such little time explaining some very important issues (eg. the ultimate duel between AD and LV) .

I was very, VERY angry about the murder of the important character. it was not at all who i guessed and he/she was very important to the story, i expected more of him/her to appear in the following two books. the death of this character affected me as much as it did to Harry (well not as much, but i did preoccupy my mind for 2 days whole, every moment). When the death occured, i closed the book and cried...

I hope i dint make this book sound as bad as i think i did, because, truly, this is the best of all the five books (my rating: 5th, 2,3,1,4) The death of the character is no doubt necessary for the story to continue. So i totally accept the death (with much difficulcy) and agree with Rowling's actions.

On a lighter note, the book was incredibly funny in some parts ( i actually started laughing outloud so many times, i looked like i was mad to my brother). This 5th sequal is thoroughly absorbing and surprises its readers to think how it would ever be possible for the author to have such a wide imagination. This book puts an end to saying a world without Harry Potter is just not possible.

rating of the book: 5/5
