Title: Frindle

After reading Frindle, it’s obvious that Andrew Clements is a talented writer. It’s amazing how he gets these ideas. In Frindle, Nick is in fifth grade and he has to deal with Mrs. Granger. She has X-ray vision and there isn’t anyone who can get by Dangerous Grangerous. Mrs. Granger loves the dictionary. Nick is a troublemaker and uses his intelligence for bad things. One day when he was walking with his friend Janet, she found a pen. Then Nick accidentally knocked Janet over and she dropped the pen and that is when he got his big idea. From then on, he didn’t call that capsule with ink in it a “pen”, but he called it a “frindle.” He tried his big idea at the Penny Pantry store, but the cashier didn’t get it very much. It is exciting how the word war turns out. It is even more exciting to know who was rooting for Nick. Every chapter gets better and better. I recommend this book to 4th and 5th graders everywhere in the world.
