'I'm scared, James.' Lily whispered as she cuddeled into him, Harry in her arms.
'I know, Lil, I know.' He strocked her hair gently, trying to comfort her. 'So am I, love, but we don't know whats going to happen or even if anything is. But remember what my father said, 'The brave my not live forever, but the catious shall not live at all.''
She nodded.
'You're right. We don't know for sure that anything will happen. We entered the Order knowing that we we're taking a risk. But a risk for the greater good.'
'And our secret keeper is a person who I trust and have know for over half my life. Voldermort would never suspect us to use Peter!'
Famous last words.
'Lily take Harry! Run! I'll hold him off!'
Lily ran, tears streaming down her cheaks, James spell propelling her up the stairs. A green burst of light rippeled from down stairs. Lily's hair was blown into her face.
'No!' She moaned softly. She continued running, heading for the nursury, James' spell no longer pushing her onwords, the small crying baby in her armsthe only thing that kept her going. She locked the door behind her and placed Harry on the floor. She took a deep shuddering breath and begaen to chant. The door burst open. Lily looked one last time at her son and stood up, turning away from him.
'Please, not Harry, not Harry!'
'Stand aside, you stupid girl!'
'Please, take me insted! Not Harry!'
'ADVADA KEDADVA!'
Lily screamed as life was ripped away from her. But as Voldermort turned his wand onto Harry, she smiled from above, knowing that even if she wasn't there with him and James wasn't either, Harry would live on because of them: HIs parents love would always be there even if they couldn't be.
