'You want to know the whole story?' Silver asked.
I nodded. 'Yes, please.'
'Okay,' said Silver. 'I was watching you in the water. I saw Erika swimming up to you in the water. She swam under your float and tipped it over. She put her hands down in the water and I saw big splashes. I ran down the beach and yelled at Erika. She ran away because she's a scaredy-Meowth and I got you out of the water and onto the float and told Misty what happened. She got really upset and called our other friends. Then we got you to the Center and . . . well, that's it.' Silver shrugged. 'Not to be taking all the credit or anything.'
'Thanks for saving me,' I said.
Silver blushed. 'You're welcome. But hey, it wasn't just me, you know. . . .'
Just then, Brock walked in. 'I've decided to stay here and help Nurse Joy out. She told me that she needed some help making Pokémon food, and food for humans, too, and someone to clean up everything around here when they didn't have the time. I told her that I loved to do all of that, and she asked me to stay. I said yes, so, I guess this is good-bye for a while . . .'
'It's not going to be the same without you on the journey, Brock,' I said sadly.
Brock blushed. 'Well, you could always call me from other Pokémon Centers.'
'That's true,' I said, brightening a little.
Pikachu stood up on my stomach and stretched. 'Pika?' it asked.
'I'm fine, thanks,' I said, rubbing Pikachu's head.
Ash poked his head into the room. 'Misty and I are staying here with Brock for a while. But you can leave whenever.'
'Okay! We'll go now!' I shouted. 'Do you guys mind getting back into the balls?'
My Pokémon disappeared into their Poké Balls. Togepi and
Pikachu were the only ones still out. Togepi gave me a big hug.
Brock waved to us from the entrance of the Pokémon Center as we walked away.
I was walking backwards. 'Bye, Brock! We'll miss you!'
'Bye, guys! Keep in touch!' Brock waved, too. 'I'm really going to miss you.'
'Bye!' Ash and Misty cried.
I waved to Brock, Misty, and Ash until they were just little dots in the distance. Then I faced forward again. I hadn't even said good-bye to my parents before we left for this world. I had made a lot of friends and I'd made an enemy. I had people here that cared about me.
Back at my house, I had a lot of friends, an enemy, and people that cared about me....
