Title: The Secret Passage Chptr 23
Nick looked at me and said, 'Crystal. Crystal, we have to split up.'
'What?' I said. 'But, Nick, you could be hurt out there!'
'I have my Pokémon for protection,' Nick protested. 'And I really need a break. I might see you later.' And before I could stop him, Nick raced off and out of sight.
'Well, that was weird.' Silver shook his head. 'Don't worry about it though. Nick is skilled for a rookie.'
I nodded, and Silver and I continued.
Finally, on one snowy day, we arrived at the Blackthorn Gym.
'Let's see, my team is Pikachu, Togepi, Lapras, Dragonair, Articuno, and Charmeleon.' I nodded. 'Pretty good team.'
'Yeah!' Silver agreed.
'Are you ready for this, Pikachu?' I asked my Pokémon, stroking it's ear.
'Pika-chu!' Pikachu answered happily.
'Then let's do this!' I pushed open the door to the Blackthorn City Gym.
'Clair! We're here to earn our final badge!' I called out.
'Oh are you really?' said an all too familiar voice.
I turned to face the voice, and groaned. 'Please! I bet you don't even have any badges, Erika.'
Erika smirked. 'Well I do.' She pulled a case of her pocket and flipped it open. Inside were five badges.
'You need eight to get into the League, Erika,' I said. 'I'm almost there.'
'Oh?' asked Erika. 'Prove it.'
I sighed and took off my my jacket. On my shirt were seven glittering badges.
'Wh-what!' Erika was opening her mouth for a 'witty comeback', but no words where coming out. She straightened up. 'Hmph. I'll show you, Crystal! I'm going to battle you to show how much of a better trainer I am than you!'
I sighed again. 'Okay, okay. A one-on-one. I need a good warm-up for this gym battle anyway.'
'All right!' Erika said. 'I choose you, Magby!'
'Let's go, Pikachu!' I shouted.
'Pika!' Pikachu cried. It jumped off of my shoulder and landed in front of Magby.
Magby's nose and mouth were dribbling with magma.
'Oh, gross!' I cried. 'Pikachu, Thundershock!'
'Pika – chu!' Pikachu cried as it charged up for the attack. It shot the blue ball of electricity at Magby.
'Magby!!!' Magby shouted. It was sizzled. It swayed for a moment, and then hit the ground with a thud.
Erika stomped her foot. 'No fair! Return Magby!' Magby disappeared into it's Poké Ball. Erika sighed. 'I always lose! Errr... WAAAAAAH!!!!!' Erika burst into tears and ran out the Gym door.
'Well. That was an impressive display.'
I spun around, and came face-to-face with a blue-haired trainer.
