Title: The Secret Passage Chptr 23 (Con't 1)
'Uh, thanks, I mean, hello,' I said. 'Would you happen to be Clair?'
'Oh, of course!' the girl said. 'I know, you want to battle right?'
'Uh-huh!' I said. 'Me and Pikachu are ready for anything you throw at us.'
'Prove it!' Clair said, backing up and tossing something over my head.
Pikachu jumped up and caught it, then handed it to mean.
'A cluster of Berries?' I asked. 'Oh.' I fed the Berries to Pikachu.
'Now you're ready,' Clair said. 'A three-on-three. Let's go Dragonair!'
'I choose you, Pikachu!'
'Pika!' Pikachu leapt from my shoulder and launched an assault of attacks on Dragonair.
'Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!' I cried.
'Pikaa – chu!' Pikachu shouted. It shocked the living daylights out of Dragonair.
'Dragon-air!' shouted Dragonair. It collapsed with a loud thud.
'Hmph. Okay, return Dragonair.' Dragonair disappeared into it's ball. 'Go, Kingdra!'
Kingdra appeared in a flash.
'Pikachu, return!' I shouted. Pikachu jumped back onto my shoulder. 'I choose you, Lapras!'
Lapras appeared in a flash.
'Lapras, Ice Beam!' I shouted.
'Laa!' shouted Lapras. It shot a beam of ice at Kingdra. Kingdra was frozen in a huge ice cube!
'Good work, Lapras!' I recalled my Pokémon. 'Go, Charmeleon!'
Charmeleon appeared. It took one look at the frozen seahorse and knew what to do. It shot a blast of flame at Kingdra.
The ice surrounding Kingdra slowly melted. When it had melted completely, Charmeleon Tackled Kingdra.
Charmeleon then grabbed Kingdra in it's arms and kicked it into the air like a football!
Kingdra fell down and landed with a ground-shaking thump. It was motionless.
'I-I lost??!' Clair screamed in horror. 'It can't be!! Hmph.' She recalled her Kingdra. 'Fine. If you can pass the test in the Dragon Shrine, I'll give you the badge.'
'Hmph. Sure!' I recalled Charmeleon and scooped up Pikachu. Then I spun around and walked out the door.
The Dragon Shrine was in a cave behind the Gym. I swam to the Dragon Shrine and went inside.
There was an old man standing inside. 'Clair sent you here, didn't she? Oh, she has some nerve . . . well, we'll just do the test.'
'What are Pokémon to you, friends, pals, or underlings?' he asked.
'Oh, pals all the way.' I smiled at Pikachu and Togepi.
'I see . . .' the man said. 'Which is more important, strong Pokémon, weak Pokémon, or both?'
'Both!' I cried. 'Any Pokémon is important.'
