Title: The Secret Passage Chptr 24
'Well, here we are!' I said. 'The Pokémon League!'
'I can't believe we're actually here!' Silver cried excitedly. 'This is so awesome.'
I looked over at Silver, then at Pikachu. I reached into my backpack and pulled out Togepi. 'You know, I want I full team of six Pokémon, but . . . Togepi can't fight!'
'Well,' said Silver, 'my mom would love to take care of Togepi. I know it. You want me to ask her?'
I nodded. 'Sure, as long as she promises to watch all my fights with Togepi.''
Silver nodded and walked over to a pay phone. He talked to his mom for a while, and when he came back, he smiled. 'She said she'd love to take care of Togepi.'
'Great!' I said. 'You don't mind, do you Togepi?' I asked my Pokémon.
Togepi shook it's head. It wanted to meet Silver's mom. 'Choki! Choki!'
'Okay, then. When will she be here?' I asked.
Silver pointed behind me. 'Looks like all of the spectators are arriving about now. Or else the contestants!'
I looked behind me. There was a big crowd of kids and adults coming up.
'Yikes!' I shouted. 'Let's go!' I pushed open the doors to the sign-up building and ran in, closely followed by Silver.
We looked around. There was a young woman sitting at a table in one corner of the room. Aha! We ran over to her.
'We'd like to sign up for the Pokémon League,' I told her.
The woman smiled. 'Oh, of course. What's your name, young lady?'
'I'm Crystal Porter,' I said.
The woman nodded. 'Where are you from, Crystal?'
I glanced at Silver, then I said, 'New Bark Town.'
The woman nodded again. 'And what's your age?'
'I'm eleven.'
'Okay.' The woman smiled and entered the information into a computer. 'You're all registered for the Pokémon League now. Good luck.'
I waited for Silver while he registered.
'What's your name?'
'I'm Silver Magby,' Silver said.
The woman nodded. 'From . . . ?'
'New Bark Town.'
The woman nodded again. 'And your age?'
'I'm eleven. And a half.'
'Okay.' The woman smiled and entered the information into a computer. 'You're all registered for the Pokémon League now. The preliminaries are today at noon. Good luck.'
We walked away from the woman, and just as soon bumped into Silver's mom.
'Hi, Mom!' Silver said with a smile. 'We've already entered the Pokémon League!'
'That's great!' Silver's mom smiled. 'And how are you, Crystal?'
I smiled. 'I'm doing wonderfully, Ms. Magby. Thank you.'
'I thought I asked you to call me Terry!' Silver's mom smiled again. She looked around. 'Where's Nick? And Erika?'
