'Pikachu, you know what to do!' I cried.
And it did. It jumped into the air and sizzled Charmander with a Thunderbolt.
'All right, Pikachu!' I shouted, pumping my fist in the air.
I patted Pikachu's head while Erika selected her last Pokémon.
'I choose Cyndaquil! Go!' Erika screamed.
Cyndaquil appeared. It was a new Cyndaquil – not the first that Erika had chosen.
'Pikachu, use your new move, the one we devised! Ready?'
Pikachu nodded.
'Feast your eyes on this, Erika!' I said. 'I discovered this move, together with Pikachu.' I turned to my little electric mouse. 'Pikachu, use your Lightning Jolt!'
Pikachu charged up for an amazing move. It's fur stood on end as it engulfed itself in an electric ball, a sort of bubble shield. Then, it ran into Cyndaquil, full force!
The bubble exploded on Cyndaquil, sizzling it with billions of harmful sparks. With a loud cry, Cyndaquil thudded to the ground.
'Lousy Pokémon!' Erika cried. She stamped her foot and recalled her Pokémon, then ran off crying.
The crowd was in a stunned sort of silence. Then, suddenly, they burst into applause.
'You definitely get to go on to the real thing!' the emcee said.
I beamed as Pikachu jumped back onto my shoulder and we exited the ring. 'Pikachu, we're in the Pokémon League!'
Silver gave me a thumbs up. 'That move was awesome! You think you could teach me and Jolteon how to do that?'
I blushed. 'Oh, sure! What do you think, Pikachu?'
'Pika pika!' Pikachu said happily.
'Now, who would like to battle this young man?' the emcee cried.
'I want to fight him! Let me fight Silver!' I heard someone shout. A boy with wild orange cowlicks and blue eyes pushed his way to Silver. 'I want to fight Silver.'
'Nick!' I shouted. At first I was glad to see he was safe. But then I got mad. I stomped up to him and shook him by the shoulders. 'Nick! Why did you leave like that? What's wrong with you? If Mom ever found out, why...'
Silver cleared his throat. 'Um, Crystal? Will you let me battle Nick, please?'
'Oh, right.' I let go of Nick, and stepped back, blushing and looking at my feet.
'The battle will be a three-on-three!' the emcee cried. 'Ready, set, FIGHT!'
'I choose you, Furret!' shouted Nick.
'Let's go, Jigglypuff!' Silver cried.
Both Pokémon appeared in a flash.
'Jigglypuff, sing!' Silver commanded.
'No!' Nick cried in horror. 'Not the lullaby of doom-ness!'
Jigglypuff drew in it's breath and started to sing a lovely song. Well, at least I thought it was lovely....
