'I've got Raichu, Pidgeot, Dragonair, Rapidash, Espeon, and Lapras,' I answered. 'And you?'
'Feraligatr, Jigglypuff, Furret, Graveler, Pidgeot, and Jolteon,' Silver replied.
'Cool. All of your strongest Pokémon!' I smiled. 'Are you ready?'
'You betcha!' Silver said.
I patted Togepi on the head. 'You be good while we're fighting in the League, okay, Togepi?'
Togepi gurgled happily and gave me a hug.
I stood up and asked Terry, 'You'll be watching with the rest of the crowd, right?'
'Of course!' Terry said. 'And so will Togepi.'
I smiled. 'Okay.' As I released Rapidash and Silver, Raichu and I climbed on it's back, I called over my shoulder, 'Bye, Terry! See you soon, Togepi!'
'Bye!' Terry cried as Silver, Raichu, Rapidash and I sped off.
Soon, we skidded to a stop at the Pokémon League arena. I recalled Rapidash and we walked inside the entrance hall.
I was kind of surprised that there weren't many Pokémon trainers in the entrance hall. There were about fifteen, counting Silver and I.
The emcee from the preliminaries waved us over. 'Please pick a number out of this hat,' he said, pointing to a tall hat. 'That'll determine which round you fight in first.'
Silver and I both pulled a slip of paper from the hat.
'Mine says 'one,'' I said.
The emcee nodded. 'You'll be fighting in round one.'
'Mine is three,' Silver said.
'You'll start off in round two,' the emcee said. 'Thank you. Good luck.'
After everyone had drawn a number from the hat, a voice blared over the loudspeaker. 'Round one is about to begin! Will Crystal and Amy please report to the arena?'
I smiled at Silver as I raced off. 'Wish me luck!'
I stood on the left side of the arena, in the blue box. A girl with blonde hair stood across from me in the red box.
'Ready to lose?' she asked.
'You wish!' I said with a sneer.
'Ready, set, FIGHT!' the judge cried.
'Let's do it, Pidgeot!' I cried, throwing a Poké Ball high into the air.
'Meowth!' Amy shouted, also throwing a Poké Ball.
Both Pokémon appeared in a flash of light.
'Pidgeot, use Whirlwind!' I ordered.
'Meowth, use Payday!' Amy cried.
Pidgeot waited for Meowth to send a spray of gold coins into the air. Then it flew around and collected each coin on it's back. It flew over to me and dumped the coins into my backpack, then went back to the fight.
