'Brendan!' I exclaimed.
Brendan looked at me. 'Hey Haley,' he said to me. 'Long time no see. Did you win the Heat Badge?'
'Yep,' I said, showing him my brand new badge.
'Cool,' Brendan said. 'Me too. I was just in the herbal medicine shop. You might want to look in there.'
'All right,' I said to him.
'Well, I've got a long way to go back to Petalburg,' he said. 'Next I'll be challenging your father. See ya, Haley.'
Brendan got on his bike and rode off.
'Why don't we check out that store Brendan was talking about?' Gregory asked me.
'Sure,' I said.
A small bell rang when we got into the herbal shop. The shop smelled of many different spices. Spike wrinkled his nose.
A girl with a Pikachu on her head was looking at a rack of many different roots.
'Whaddya think Sparx?' she asked her Pikachu.
Sparx, which I guessed was the Pikachu's name, selected a brown root and the girl walked up to the counter.
After she had paid for her root, I walked up to her.
'Hi, I'm Haley,' I said. 'These are my friends, Sasha, Chris, Kristin, Sheryl, and Gregory.'
'I'm Tess,' the girl said. 'This is Sparx.'
'I have a Manectric by the same name,' I said.
'Cool!' Tess exclaimed.
'Hey Tess,' I said. 'Do you want to travel around with us?'
'Do I ever!' Tess exclaimed.
'We're on our way to Petalburg City,' Sasha said.
'Okay,' Tess replied. 'I'll come along.'
We all headed out of the shop with a new friend. As we left Lavaridge Town, we wondered what adventures we would run into next.
