Title: It's a Pokémon World! Hoenn Series: Part 59
An old man with a long white beard appeared at the door.
'Come in, children,' he said. Spike backed away. 'You too, Absol.'
We all stepped in to the elder's home. It was highly decorated, with paintings and tapestries everywhere. Most of the paintings featured an Umbreon.
'What is the problem, young ones?' the elder asked us.
'It's my Absol,' I said. 'Everybody keeps running away from him.'
The elder nodded. He then turned and got out a very old, very battered book entitled, 'The Legend of Moonshine.'
The old man opened the book. He then turned to us.
'Long long ago, there was a dark force that attacked the town,' he said to us. 'That force was an Absol. The people of this town, called Ruka back then, believed that an Absol was the Dark Lord in form of a Pokémon.'
The old man cleared his throat and continued.
'Whenever an Absol passed through Ruka, people were terribly frightened,' he told us. 'They believed that a terrible storm was going to come. But according to legend, there was an Umbreon by the name of Moonshine. He was a brave Umbreon, and tried to defeat the Absol. A crowd gathered to watch. In the end, Moonshine won. People believe that the only Pokémon brave enough to defeat an Absol is an Umbreon.'
He turned to Sasha. 'You have an Umbreon, girl.'
'Yeah, but Demon wouldn't hurt Spike,' she told the elder. 'They're like best friends.'
'They must battle!' the elder hissed. 'And the Umbreon must win! Or the people of Moonshine City will be forced to live in darkness forever.'
'Get to your senses!' I shouted. 'It's just a stupid tradition! Spike doesn't hurt anybody!'
The old man's eyes flashed. 'They will battle,' he growled at me. 'At midnight, in the middle of the main road.'
We headed out of the elder's house. Spike battling Demon? We had to see who won.
