Title: An Ancient Festival.

Saturnalia

I Ancient Rome they had a festival called Saturnalia and every year they celebrated for a whole week. Its around the same time as Chirstmas(they didn't have Chirstmas until something Ad) and clashed with the winter solcistic whatever that is . I think its got something to do with the sun being at its highest point or something. (Winter Solstice is the day with the shortest amount of daylight in a year. Editor) But anyway Saturnalia was celebrated to give thanks to the roman god Saturn(By the way the nine planets are named after roman gods except the sun and earth.) Hopeing to get good harvest that up coming year. They brought presents for friends and family and even slaves. Emperor Augustus tried banning saturnaila because people started giving people houses and free all of the slaves and wouldn't stop spending money. No one listened.Every year at Chirstmas now think what they did 2 thousand years ago. ;)
