Title: The Secret of Birch: Episode 1
'I'm Haley,' I said to Andy. 'It's nice to meet you.'
Andy's Kirlia went over to Spike. The Absol examined it, then wagged his tail gently.
'Did you just win the Feather Badge?' Andy asked.
'Yeah,' I said. 'My sixth badge.'
'How many Pokémon do you have?' Andy asked.
'Six.'
'Cool.'
Andy sat down on the bench next to me as Spike and Kirlia played. The others suddenly came in, looking triumphant.
'Hey Haley!' Sasha said to me. 'We just won our badges.'
Chris glanced over at Andy. 'Who's that?' he asked.
'You guys, this is Andy,' I said. Andy waved shyly to everybody.
'Hey, what's that?' Kristin pointed to a rustle outside.
'I bet it's some Kecleon again,' I said. 'I saw the tail.'
We all ran outside and I cornered the Kecleon.
'All right, I'm going to catch you!' I shouted at the Kecleon. 'Go, Spike!'
Spike growled at the Kecleon. The green Pokémon was too scared to move, so it fainted right there.
'Well, that was easy,' I said as I threw a PokéBall at the Kecleon. The Pokémon disappeared into the ball in a flash of red light.
'You can't carry seven Pokémon around, Haley,' Gregory told me. 'You have to send it to Prof. Birch to look after.'
We walked back into the Pokémon Center, and I walked over to the PC. But Spike jumped in front of it, growling.
'Spike, what's the matter?' I asked the Absol. I reached for the Enter key, but Spike attempted to bite my hand.
'Spike!' I shouted. THe Absol cowered in the corner, but still wouldn't let me touch the PC.
'What's with Spike?' I asked.
'I don't know,' Andy said. 'You can't carry around seven PokéBalls. That's illegal.'
'Spike, lemme just...' I reached for the PC again, but Spike got me with his teeth.
'Spike! Bad Absol!' Spike again whimpered.
'For some weird reason, Spike won't let you use the transport PC to send Kecleon to Prof. Birch,' Sheryl said.
'That's weird,' I said.
Kirlia talked to Spike in Pokémon language.
'Kir, li, lia.'
'Absol. Ab, ab, sol.'
Kirlia turned to Andy.
'I think we can help you see into Spike's mind,' Andy said. 'We can tell you why he won't let you use the PC.'
'Cool!' I exclaimed.
Andy turned to Kirlia. 'Use a Calm Mind.'
Kirlia nodded and its eyes glowed purple. All of us felt like we were floating, then everything went black.
