Title: Me And My Pony
The other day me and my horse,Spirit, who is a 1 year old dutch warmblood, were galloping through our hills as i was training her for cross country jumping. We were both so excited to be soon attending the cross counrty finals in Toronto in late September. She was amazing at the wall and all the other but when we soon reached the log jump she lunged forward and all seemed perfect when all of a sudden her back foot hit the log and we fell sharply to the ground.(The thing with cross counrty jumping is the jumps don't fall if you hit them), and i rolled off my beautiful black horse laying there. Her back leg was broken and i felt my heart shatter. I called daddy and he and some of the stable hands ran off and loaded her into the truck and took her to the vets. Her back leg was seriously injured and would never heal properly... i cried so teribly hard i was shaking. We decided to put her down becuase we did not want her to suffer the pain of never jumping again. I looked into her eyes and my heart sank...we never made it to the finals. I miss her and wish she were here. R.I.P Spirit, i loved her. To all the riders out there always follow your dreams and don't be afraid, love every moment you spend with your horse and never let yourself down, because you can do it! The hardest thing I ever did was get on another horse and it broke my heart it wasn't Spirit under me but i was glad i could move on. I haven't gone back to Cross-Country riding,i just can't without Spirit. I am training my new horse to do show jumping. So good luck to everyone out there,i hope your riding it fun. Good bye for now.
Luv always, Steph
