Title: Finding Out Who

Chapter 13
After I had been a guest of Cruss’s for about two or three weeks, I had grown to
be even more comfortable.
I had a tour of where I was being kept, which suprizingly was a very large factory.
It was a humongous building in which many products were being processed by monstrous
machines. It was an awesome sight! Yet was even more amazing to see, was that barley
any of the processing was done by human hands! Simply by machines that I had never
imagined before! I mean, sure, if you go to some factories, you should expect to see only
machines. Besides, I’d seen videos on how news paper factories work, and they’re only
machines. It just, well, I’d never imagined that it could be so big! It just came as a pretty
big shock.
Although I’d been able to attend a tour, the rest of the time that I was with Cruss,
I had to stay in a back room. It was a very small room, maybe 10ft. by 10ft., but it was
fairly empty. With a desk in one corner, and bed in another, and a pile of games which
Cruss played with me by the door.
I remember one day, when Cruss and I were playing monopoly. We were just
talking, and I was winning, but there was something that I’d been dying to ask Cruss. "Do
you work in the factory? Or do you just walk around? Because I’ve not seen you do
anything except have fun with me."
For a little while, Cruss considered her answer. Then she responded, "I guess that
you should know anyway."
"What?"
"My father is the owner of this entire factory, Kitty. He’s a big business man. Since
he has made so much money for my family, I don’t have to work. And to tell you the
truth, I usually don’t like coming here, to the factory."
"Yikes. That’s a big bite of news. Yet, if you don’t like coming here, am I the
reason you’re coming now?"
"Yeah."
"Cruss? I was just wondering. . . why are you and your dad taking care of me? I
mean, wouldn’t the CIA or the FBI come to get me? Besides, when can I go home?"
Cruss, at that moment, looked troubled. A week later I found out why.
