Title: Finding Out Who
Chapter 14
I was woken up at about 2:25 A.M. by a harsh whisper, "Kitty! Oh, please wake
up."
I quickly opened my eyes and sat up in my bed. Who was there? It took a few
seconds for my eyes to adjust. When they did, I was relieved to see Cruss, not another
kidnapper.
"What are you doing?" I asked. My voice was hoarse and scratchy, since I was still
very tired.
"Kitty, you’re in even bigger danger than you’ve ever imagined. I’m so sorry that I
didn’t tell you earlier, but I was scared. . ." Cruss’s voice trailed off.
As a chill shot up my spine, like a slimy, deadly snake, I slowly asked, "What the
heck are you talking about. I thought you were my friend."
"Oh, Kitty! I know that I’ve done many things wrong in the last month. Now,
though, I can’t think of anything better that I could do for you, except possibly save your
life, and many others. Now listen, my dad had been hired to "take care" of Perry, and keep
you where no one could find you, and the real bad guys could come to get you. I have a
plan that can stop them from getting you, but I’m sorry. Perry is probably already dead."
As Cruss finished, she started to cry. She obviously didn’t like this any more than I did.
I started to cry as well. I was scared. Scared, and mad. The more I cried, the
madder I got. Perry, dead? How could that be? I didn’t want anyone else to die! I hated
just the thought of death! I couldn’t’ believe what was happening. I wished I could just
give up, and have everything turn out right.
"Come on, Kitty." Cruss began, wiping away tears. "We don’t have much time.
Your third kidnappers will be here at 4:00 A.M. tomorrow. You have to get as far away
from this place as you and, but you won’t go alone. I’ve already told one of the factory
workers that my dad won’t miss to help you through the security and on your way."
I just wanted to get going. I didn’t want to be kidnapped a third time, which might
be the last thing that would happen to me.
Cruss had led me to the door, and introduced me to Walter, who luckily was a
security guard off of duty. That would be helpful for getting off of the property. And after
about 5 minutes, we had made it off of the property without getting caught.
It’s just that the people that I was running away from had decided to come a day
earlier. Or Cruss had gotten the date wrong. You know what really stunk about the "real
bad guys"? They spotted me going through the property, and captured me.
Yep, I was kidnapped a third time.
