Title: Meighan's Pokémon Adventure, Ch. 4
'The day Meighan was born was one of the happiest days. Before I even knew it, she was ten, all grown up, and ready to become a trainer.'
Ash Ketchum, Memoirs of a Master
I tossed and turned in bed that night. Not a wink of sleep came. What Pokémon should I choose? Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle? What if my Pokémon didn't listen to me once I got it? Or what if I didn't pass the exam tomorrow? That would mean another school year.. ugh..
I looked over at Dad's Pokémon LEague cap, hanging on my hat rack. Then I slowly fell asleep. That night I dreamed about Pokémon and what level they evolved at. My alarm clock woke me up the next morning. I was startled and screamed, 'Charmeleon, level 30!' 'Meighan?' Dad poked his head into the room. 'I want to go back to bed!' I complained. 'But you'll miss the training session and the exam if you do. I got up and ran to the closet and grabbed a shirt. I was downstairs in under two minutes, dressed and raring to go. 'Are you excited, Meig?' I could only nod; my mouth was full of food. 'Do you want to go over any questions?' I nodded again as I swallowed the pancake. 'All righty. What level does Ponyta evolve at?' 'Easy. Level 40,' I answered. 'You're ready for this test. You know it,' my mom said. 'Great. I'll be back this afternoon with my Pokédex, Pokéballs, and my Pokémon.'
I came home at about 11:00. My parents were out by the pool. 'Hi, Meig! How did it go?' Mom took off her sunglasses and looked at me expectantly. 'I don't know,' I said, giving them an unreadable expression.
'Stop. Now what score did you get?' 'Well, are you ready to say I'm the only person in Prof. Oak's class to get all 100 questions correct?' 'You mean.. you even beat Blake??' 'By six points. I've never seen Gary so upset.' 'Oh, congratulations Meighan!' Dad hugged me. Mom sat there, staring at my test. 'Wow, I was sure Gary would pull some dirty trick to make you fail,' she said. 'Well, I guess he didn't,' said Ash.
