Aimee,
Certain stories get checked first because they get caught by the filter. This catches words that I think I need to look at first - words that could be (not always though), used offensively. I try and clear the filter every other day (sometimes it's longer if I'm away), so that stories can be published as soon as possible.

All messages in Your Thoughts get a 1 because they are automatically rated - same goes for Author's Corner. I don't think it's fair to rate messages and it's difficult, and I don't want to, judge other's thoughts.
