Title: still too tough
With smiles thick with encouragement,
With words full of warmth and love,
I focussed on all I'd achieved,
And the way I'd rise above...
But the laughter soon died away,
And I'm standing all alone,
Facing a world full of grievences,
A world that left me on my own.
The hugs, the happy chuckles,
Even the congratulations wore so thin,
For I soon was forced to realise,
That the pain still lied within.
So caught up in the hope I'd shed,
I forgot the battle I'd yet to meet,
So when the soldiers fired their deadly guns,
I wasn't prepared for what to great.
Another fight still has to commence,
Along with more desperate crying,
And as the tears fall down my face,
I'm so very sick of trying.
I'm fighting for the life I never wanted,
It's so painful, so damn hard,
Emotionally I'm wrecked by all,
And my heart's so deeply scared.
I don't want this battle,
There's no reassurance that I'll survive,
And if I lose; it's over,
If I fail I don't want to be alive.
All the same, I'm so terrified,
In my spirit, I'm so damn close to death
Everything I had was poured to the past,
I never thought I'd need some left.
Exhausted and so very weak I'm here,
Begging for it to come to close,
Let me forget the past,
And cast aside my old foes...
I just want to be able to break away,
Inside I'm screaming in fear,
And even though I can face you,
I'm still scared to know you're near.
I know the achievement is so vast for me,
Yet I'll admit it's not enough,
For although I've conquered many things,
This life; it's still too tough.
