Title: The Invisibility Cloak Becomes Invisible. Part I
“Ron, Hermione”, Harry called in a rather worried voice as he entered Gryffindor
common room from the boys’ dorm.
“I’m trying to STUDY over here. Could you please consider disturbing me later”, said Hermione looking up at Harry angrily. Ron looked up at Harry as well, only in a what’s-the-matter way.
“The Invisibility Cloak is lost”, said Harry in a low voice.
“What?” screamed Ron and Hermione. All the eyes in the common room turned to them, “Nothing mates”, said Ron innocently. Then he turned to Harry. Hermione was already looking for conclusions but couldn’t find any.
“Yeah”, continued Harry, “I was looking in my trunk for my spare quill and saw that my cloak wasn’t there.”
“Have you checked properly?” asked Hermione.
“Absolutely! I’ve ransacked my trunk”, replied Harry, “In any case, Ron, let’s go and check my trunk again”.
“Okay”, said Ron.
“I’ll be waiting here”, said Hermione.
Harry and Ron opened Harry’s trunk and took out everything, the invisibility cloak couldn’t be found. They searched under Harry’s bed, in Ron’s trunk (just incase Harry had left it there by mistake) and even under all the bed covers but couldn’t find the cloak. It was surely lost or…stolen. They came back to the common room where Hermione was sitting by the fire, her wand pressed against her cheeks, she was trying to find a reason behind the missing Invisibility Cloak.
“Found it?” asked Hermione as Harry and Ron approached her.
“No”, replied Harry.
“When was the last time you used it?” asked Hermione.
“Yesterday evening, when Ron and I went to visit Hagrid. We used the cloak because Snape was on his rounds and we didn’t want to bump into him”, said Harry.
“And where did you keep it when you returned?” asked Hermione.
“In my trunk, of course”, replied Harry.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes”
“I’m having a feeling it was stolen”, said Hermione after thinking for quite some time.
“Sadly, I agree with Hermione”, said Ron, “Invisibility Cloaks are quite popular, you know”
“I guess”, said Harry, disappointed, “What should we do now?”
“What else, tell a teacher”, said Hermione in a that’s-the-only-solution voice.
“Are you CRAZY”, remarked Ron loudly, “Dumbledore is the only professor who knows about the Invisibility Cloak.”
“Then tell him”, said Hermione.
“Now I’m sure you’re off your rockers!” exclaimed Ron.
