I had guessed that Gandalf took me there to become a jester to the King, or to explain about Boromir. He asked me to do neither, and yet I did both.
I saw Faramir there, Boromir's younger brother, and learned that he had seen Frodo and Sam. He told Gandalf what had happened, and during this, I watched Gandalf and as Faramir told him that Frodo and the others were taking the road to Cirith Ungol and that Gollum was leading, Gandalf's eyebrows started knitting and by the end was looking extremely worried.
If you had heard the tales about Cirith Ungol, you would've been worried too. There was a myth that in there lived a spiderlike creature that the Elves said was decended from Ungoliant whom, with Morgoth her Master, slayed King Finwe of the Noldor and took the Silmarils. The spiderlike creature WAS real, and with Gollum leading Frodo in there, there was sure to be betrayal and murder close at hand, if it hadn't already happened.
