We were onboard the ferry to the land of new beginnings, Hoenn.
'So, we're finally going to Hoenn!' I smiled.
'Yeah! The land of new beginnings!' Serena threw a fist in the air.
'I hope it's also the land where you can stuff your face, because I'm real hungry!' Dalton said.
'Relax, they have food service on this ferry,' I said.
'I hope you're right!' Serena said. 'Now that you're on the subject, I could grab a bite.'
All 3 of us had decided to go to Hoenn with only our Starter Pokemon. Serena had decided to catch something other than Eons. She only had her Espeon, and Dalton had his Jolteon.
'I've heard that there are very interesting and weird Pokemon in Hoenn,' I said.
Dalton piped up. 'One of our neighbors in Pallet says he's been to Hoenn before. He saw a Pokemon that looked like a clay sculpture with lots of eyes!
I was scared half to death. 'I hope you don't mean Seall or anything like that!' I retorted.
'No... I mean, a weird different Pokemon. It's a rock-type that lives in the desert. Very interesting, I gotta catch one!' Dalton replied.
I calmed down. 'You frightened me halfway out my pants!'
Suddenly, the ferry rocked back and forth.
'Woaaah!' I yelled. 'What's happening?'
I looked over the side of the ferry. It had gotten trapped in a whirlpool!
'Oh no! We've passed by Pinkan Island!' Dalton yelled.
'Yeah! I think the cliff was ENOUGH to protect Pinkan Island!' I gasped. 'Serena, wake up.'
Serena was sound asleep, when she started. 'Wha-what?'
'We're in Pinkan Island! Try to stop the whirlpool or something using Espeon's powers!'
Serena rubbed her eyes, but then she seemed ready. 'Espeon, Psychic!' The whirlpool was brought to a still water using a paralyzing psychic stare.
The driver of the ferry had a shocked look on his face, from the events. But the ferry soon had a good start south.
'Now let's fall asleep, I'm tired, and it's night time!' Dalton said.
The next morning, we were miles south of the Orange Islands. The intercom suddenly came on.
'Destined for Littleroot Town... in one hour!'
'All right!' I said. 'Nothing like a brand-new adventure!'
Serena jittered around in her seat. 'Ooh, I'm excited. A brand new beginning... I bet the viewers are on their seat!'
Dalton said, 'You broke the fourth wall.'
'Sorry,' Serena said.
I heard a voice say, 'So cool! I'm gonna get a Treecko!' in front of me.
I looked over the seat and saw a trainer, looking directly at the 3 of us. 'Hi, I'm Kirk! And I want to be a Pokemon Trainer!'
'Hi, Kirk!' I said. 'These are my friends, Serena and Dalton. I'm going to Hoenn. I've already been to Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto!'
'Woah!' Kirk said. 'You probably caught a lot of Pokemon!'
'Yeah!' I said. 'It's easy to catch Pokemon if you concentrate until they're too weak to retaliate. For more powerful Pokemon, you catch them with strong Pokeballs!'
Kirk said, 'I wanna be with your team and we can all be Pokemon Masters!'
'Okay!' I said. 'You said you wanted a Treecko. Is that one of the starters?'
Kirk nodded. 'Uh-huh. And there's a cool bird Pokemon! It's a fire type! And there's also this cool aquatic puppy! It's a water type!'
'I always wanted a Dog Pokemon!' I said. 'I'm gonna get the Water Pokemon! But that means that one of the others is gonna not have a starter!'
'I like my Espeon just the way it is,' Serena said.
'Okay, so that means Dalton is gonna have the fire bird!'
'I love fire types,' Dalton said. 'I had a Typhlosion, so a fire bird is gonna be super cool!'
After all this conversation, the ferry stopped. The intercom boomed, 'For all Hoenn tourists, please get off the ferry now.'
'I'm not exactly a Tourist,' I said to myself. 'I want to train Pokemon in Hoenn, not take pictures, stand there and look pretty...'
We arrived in Littleroot Town. The group, including the new member Kirk, walked towards the buildings. I saw a huge building labelled 'POKEMON LAB.' We walked inside, but there was only a teenage researcher.
'Professor Birch isn't home,' the researcher told us. 'Look in the woods to the north, he might be in there.'
So we decided to walk north. We travelled past buildings.
'There's Route 101,' Dalton pointed to a sign.
'Okay, then let's go!' I rushed along.
We managed to walk pretty far into the woody area, until we heard a scream.
'Come on!' Kirk shouted and we rushed into a clearing.
A middle-aged man, wearing a lab coat, was running from a menacing little Dog Pokemon.
'That's a Poochyena!' Kirk pointed to the Pokemon.
The man yelled, 'I'm Professor Birch! Listen! You gotta fight this thing! Choose one of the Pokemon in the bag!'
Three of us rushed to the bag, while Serena stood there.
Kirk immediately took a ball labelled 'Treecko.' He probably knew a lot about the Hoenn Pokemon. 'That one's the fire bird.' He pointed to a ball labelled Torchic. 'Okay!' Dalton picked up the ball with Torchic. I picked up the one remaining, labelled 'Mudkip'. It was probably the mud-puppy Water-type Pokemon.
Serena shouted, 'Go! Espeon!'
We ran towards the Poochyena, which turned at us and barked.
'Go, Mudkip!' I shouted.
'Go, Treecko!' Kirk shouted.
'Go, Torchic!' Dalton yelled.
Our small Pokemon appeared, out of their balls. I noticed how cute Mudkip and Torchic looked. However, Treecko was a menacing lil' gecko-like Pokemon.
I opened my Pokedex, which gave small descriptions of the Pokemon. 'Mudkip's attacks at level 5 are Tackle and Growl.'
'Then use Tackle!' I shouted. Mudkip leapt up and knocked Poochyena over. Poochyena growled up at us.
Mudkip let out a cry and shivered. 'It's okay!' I said.
'Torchic, scratch!' Dalton commanded.
Torchic ran up to Poochyena. It raised its talons and swiped at Poochyena, giving it a hard scratch. It was too painful for Poochyena to endure, so it slumped to the ground. But then... it tried to get back up. Slowly, and with a few bruises.
Kirk yelled, 'Treecko! Pound!' Suddenly, Treecko's power was even better than Mudkip and Torchic. Although this was Kirk's first Pokemon, he must have studied Pokemon books, because he was good at this. Treecko slammed its fist into Poochyena's stomach. Poochyena tried to swipe at Treecko for that, but Treecko gave another pummeling hit, and Poochyena couldn't keep up. Treecko was really fast.
Poochyena was knocked to the ground.
'Hooray! You saved the day, Kirk!' I shouted to Kirk.
Kirk said, 'I love Treecko because it's a cool lizard! I read all about them! That's why I'm so advanced! I have a real bond with Treecko!'
'That's the path to being a master,' Dalton said. 'Bond with your Pokemon. They will learn from you, and the heart will open up the path to championship.'
Kirk smiled. 'All right!' He hugged his Treecko!
Serena said, 'That's good for a first try!'
Suddenly, Espeon walked up to my Mudkip and sniffed Mudkip. Mudkip smiled.
'Look, they're friends!' I said.
All our Pokemon were getting to know eachother. It was a happy day.
Professor Birch said, 'I'm so glad you got rid of that Poochyena! I accidentally disturbed it while it was napping, and it started to chase me, jaws yapping!'
'Poochyena must be a vicious Pokemon,' I said.
Professor Birch said, 'I'll be glad to give you those three Starter Pokemon from your journeys. You battled so greatly with them. It brought a tear to my eye.'
Dalton smiled and hugged Torchic. 'Great! my fire-type dreams have come true!'
Professor Birch said, 'You trainers will need a Pokedex.' Prof. Birch handed out 4 Pokedexes to each of us.
'Thanks,' Serena said, looking at the red device.
'Goodbye now!' Prof. Birch said. 'Come back once in a while! I'll be happy to study your Pokemon's conditions!'
We waved to Prof. Birch, and then started on the path to the next town in Hoenn, Oldale Town.
Kirk said, 'I'm so excited! Let's catch a Pokemon!'
'All right!' We all raised our fists in the air.
