Title: MGPJ: I Believe I Can Beautifly

(Read the title out loud to hear a pun. Remember, Beautifly is BYOOT-ih-FLY.)

'So, when are we going to get to Oldale?' Dalton asked. 'My stomach is babbling!'
I pondered, then spoke. 'We should be getting there soon. Route 101 is only a little forest trail, after all.'
Suddenly, around the woodland bend, we saw two little girls looking up at the big pines and firs. There seemed to be one rising up all above the others, by about 50 feet.
'I wanna catch it!' The first girl said.
'No, I wanna catch it!' The second girl said.
'Wait, it's gonna beat us again!' The first girl said.
They two girls began crying on the spot. 'But I WANNA CATCH THAT BEAUTIFLY!' they yelled at eachother.
Serena walked over to them. 'We can help you!'
The first girl turned around. 'Oh, thanks! I wanna catch a BEAUTIFLY! They're these cute little pokemon, and their wings are all yellow and pretty!'
The second girl said, 'Usually this forest is full of little Pokemon like Zigzagoon and Poochyena, but in this one big tree, lives a Beautifly. Beautifly lived in the big tree for years and never came down!'
I asked, 'What are you trying to do to catch them?'
The second girl spoke again. 'Well, we throw some Pokeballs at 'em but Beautifly just breaks out and flies away from the tree! Then when we leave the tree, it comes back and looks at us with angriness!'
I said, 'That's not the right way to catch a Pokemon! Do you have any pokemon with you?'
The first girl piped up, 'I have a Plusle and the other one has a Minun!'
I asked, 'What Pokemon are they?'
'Go! AC!' the first girl shouted.
A Plusle appeared on the ground. The first girl had named it AC.
I noticed it looked rather like a Pichu, but it was more of a rabbit than a mouse. It had these big, red ears and red cheeks. However, the red cheeks were in the shape of Plus Signs. The red tail was also shaped like a plus-sign.
The second girl yelled, 'Go! DC!'
It looked just like Plusle, but its ears were blue, and it's cheek was a blue minus sign. The blue tail was shaped like a minus sign. Basically, Minun was the opposite of Plusle, just blue, and had Minus signs on it.
The first girl said, 'AC and DC are buds. You see, in Hoenn there is a big woody area where Plusle and Minun tend to live. They're all Electric-type buddies. Also, any two Plusle and Minun stick together in more than one way. They may not be friends, but their electrical currents go together.'
The second girl continued. 'We named AC and DC after a term in electricity. AC/DC is an electrical current, like in wires. On the telephone AC goes one way and DC goes the other way. That is the connection that lets us use telephones. Our daddy told us.'
Kirk said, 'Woah! That's real interesting! It all makes perfect sense!'
I said, 'So those are your Pokemon. That's really cool! Okay, I'll tell you how to get into a Pokemon Battle. You see, if Beautifly isn't hurt in a Pokeball, it could pop right out and get away! But if it is in a Pokeball, and damaged up, it will be weak, and it won't be able to get out, no matter how hard it tries.'
The girls were real interested.
'Now let's get started,' I said.
The first girl said, 'My name's Katie.'
The second girl said, 'and my name's Keri.'
'Great,' I said. 'Now I need to help you here!'
Later...
AC and DC were in front of me. 'Go, Mudkip!' I shouted. 'If a Pokemon tries to attack 2 Pokemon at once, you both have to leap in a different direction, out of the way. AC and DC, get started, ok?'
'Get ready, AC and DC!' Katie said.
AC and DC both looked straight and sharp at Mudkip.
'Mudkip, Tackle!'
AC and DC nodded to eachother. One jumped left, and one jumped right. 'PLUUUUSLE! MINUUUUUN!' they yelled.
Mudkip landed in the grass, not able to hit either one.
'That's it!' I said. 'You can get out of the way!'
Keri asked, 'But what if Mudkip attacks?'
'Mudkip can only attack one of them, because they're on either side. Mudkip, choose AC!'
Mudkip looked right at AC, who was now nervous.
'When Mudkip attacks, AC can leap up, over the attack, and get Mudkip on the ground. Then Mudkip won't be able to attack!'
Mudkip ran right at AC. AC leapt right over Mudkip's head, and hit his body down into the ground. Mudkip let out a squeal.
'Kiiiip!' Mudkip's stubby legs couldn't reach AC, because it was pinned down.
'Then, while AC is holding Mudkip down, DC can beat on him, because he's too weak! It's all about team work!'
DC leapt on Mudkip and scratched him around.
'Okay, this is only practice, so I don't want Mudkip to get really hurt! Come off, AC and DC!'
AC and DC, the plusle and minun, had really grown on me. They were cute. 'Let's practice some more! Let Mudkip warm up first...'
Later, everyone was gathered at the big tree.
'This is it!' Serena said.
'You've gotten good,' Dalton said to the little girls. 'Just stick to what Jordan tought you, and you'll do swell!'
I said, 'If you try to hurt Beautifly with a thundershock, it'll come right out and attack you! That's the best way to start a battle!'
'Go, AC!' Katie shouted.
'Go, DC!' Keri yelled.
AC and DC shot two Thunderbolts into the big pine.
One of them missed the pine and went into the sky near the pine. The other one went in between the big needles and something exploded inside. That got Beautifly going.
'Byoooootifly!' the voice rang out. Beautifly was mad, but its voice was as pretty as a tiny, dingling bell.
Beautifly swooped down at AC and began to glow green.
'It's sapping AC's energy!' I yelled.
'Get out of the way, AC!' Katie shouted.
AC scampered out of the way. Beautifly kept getting lower. It seemed to be trying to tackle them!
What happened next brought a tear to my eye. My teaching had finally paid off.
AC at scampered around Beautifly and leapt up as it passed by. AC had gripped onto the side of Beautifly. The weight made Beautifly crash down. AC stood on Beautifly. Beautifly desperately struggled to flap its wings.
DC hopped on and started smacking Beautifly around. However, Beautifly's flapping created a small wind. AC was lifted off of Beautifly, and then Beautifly rose up and flapped, causing DC to get gusted away.
'That was a gust attack,' Kirk yelled.
Katie and Keri tried to help DC and AC, but now they were getting blown around.
AC was blown into a tree branch. 'PLUUUSLE!' it screamed, but it got up onto the branch. It fired electricity down at Beautifly and zapped it.
Beautifly was cooked. It didn't need to get jumped on. Beautifly slowly flitted down to the ground, and struggled there.
'Pokeball... GO!' Katie shouted.
I was amazed. They'd done it!
Keri screamed. 'I WANTED TO CATCH IT! NOOOO!'
Katie said, 'Aww... I can share it with you!'
Keri stared at Katie with tears in her eyes. '..Really? You can!'
'Sure!' Katie said. The two little sisters hugged eachother. So did AC and DC, for teamwork.
Suddenly, their father came out.
'There you are!' he said. 'I've been looking for you! It's time to come inside!'
'Daddy,' Keri said. 'We finally caught Beautifly!'
The father was impressed. 'You're kidding! That big old Beautifly was killing our crops!'
'Some nice Pokemon trainers helped us!' Keri pointed to the four of us.
We nodded.
The father said, 'Well, this deserves a reward. For being so nice to these little girls, we'll give you... a container of Mystic Water. It helps Water-type Pokemon.'
Mudkip smiled and danced around. 'Kip! Kip! Kip!'
The father and the two little girls waved. 'Goodbye! Thanks for helping!'
We waved back. 'Goodbye!'
Serena said, 'Those two little girls were just adorable, don't you think?'
Dalton nodded. 'I swell with happiness when I see anything so cute!'
We walked towards Oldale.
'Look! It's just ahead! Down that hill!'
