Bonding with electricity. Ep4
I met Kaylee just outside the mansion.
“Wow! What was your business in there?”
(I had to tell her sometime or another)
“That’s my house, I live there.”
Kaylee made another exclamation, but I wasn’t listening. An Electrike was staring at me with its huge black, beady eyes fixed on my pokeball.
“Oh, don’t mind him.” Waved Kaylee, patting the Electrike on its head absentmindedly. “He’s very aggressive towards other pokemon unless it’s a friend. I don’t suppose you’ve got any electric pokemon that he would feel comfortable with? I thought so.”
Suddenly, as I chattered away to Kaylee, my pokeball opened by itself.
A beam of red light engulfed Electrike and then, the next second all we saw was Electrike shaking hands with Cubone. (I had decided to call him, Skull)
“Wow! This is a first! He actually likes your Cubone!”
“I know.” I agreed. It hardly seemed possible that an uncontrollable pokemon like Skull could be friends with an Electrike.
Suddenly, Kaylee screamed. I stared at her, as did several other people from down the street. She stared fixedly at my shoulder and said in a near whisper, “Don’t panic, but two rats are on your shoulder.”
I burst out laughing as I took them off my shoulder.
“They’re my pets! I take them everywhere!”
But Kaylee’s eyes were popping. Hey mouth was shaped into an O and her eyes were wide and fearful.
“I…” she stuttered, “I h-hate r-r-rats…”
I smiled and patted her sympathetically on the shoulder and said, “But they’re not rats! They’re mice! This is Cutesy and this is Whisper,”
I could see Kaylee gulping but she managed to calm down and pulled me over to a corner where we could talk privately.
“Sorry. It’s just that I hate little animals like that. I always have an image of some rats or mice crawling up my trousers,” she said, shuddering at the thought.
I smiled. “Don’t worry. Cutesy and Whisper are trained mice. They can even string-walk and I’m trying to teach them how to ride a bike.”
Kaylee looked relieved but raised her eye brows in question.
I shrugged. “There are small versions of bikes you know. Ones that are about the size of your thumb.”
That set us giggling about what it would be like to be so small.
