Title: Barefaced Truths. Ep11
When I woke up the next morning, it was already noon. Kaylee was outside, training her pokemon. I combed my hair and then walked down stairs. Kaylee’s mum was stirring a stew while all the children played in the playpen. I rushed down and opened the front door just as a Chikorita bounced out of the grass.
I sensed a tension as Kaylee stood stock still, watching the grass type pokemon. Suddenly, she threw out Electrike. (Wolf)
“Thunderbolt!” She cried, as Wolf electrified the Chikorita.
“YES!”
Kaylee punched the air above her head and I walked down towards her.
“Hey,” she said, turning around quite suddenly.
I had not known that she knew that I was there. I stepped down beside her and glanced at her new pokeball, which she was putting into her dark blue bag.
“What are you going to call it?” I asked, silently wishing that I had a Chikorita.
“Uh…” Kaylee thought for a minute, then shrugged, “Starfire will do,”
I frowned at her but she didn’t seem to see. I knew that I had to tell her about how I got Picken’s mobile number, so I said, “You know Picken’s mobile number? Well, he gave me it the day we met.”
Kaylee said nothing, then she turned towards me, her eyes brimming with tears, “I can’t stop you from liking him. But I tell you, he’s a jerk!”
With that, Kaylee brushed aside her tears and strode into the house. I followed…silently. I knew what she meant about him being a jerk.
I suppose cute guys are always jerks because the moment you have your back turned, another girl would be flirting with him. It was unstoppable.
As I pushed the red door open, I smelt a delicious stew from the corridor. I walked into the kitchen and Kaylee’s mum told me to sit down. I sat between a girl about 7 years old, and Kaylee.
Kaylee spooned the stew into all of the bowls and then sat down. We ate in total silence but it was not an uncomfortable sort of silence, it was a warm, happy sort of silence. I finished my bowl as did Kaylee. Kaylee took the bowls to the sink with my help and washed it. Then, she put it on the table to dry. She sat back down and said, “Mum, Maxi and I are going to battle the Gym Leaders in the city. Am I allowed to go?”
I stared at her in total confusion. What? What did she mean? I didn’t say anything about battling Gym Leaders in the city!To be continued- To Rustboro City??? Ep12
