Title: Destiny Trainers: One Practical Joke

(I couldn't think of a title. Heh.)
(This is still Megumi’s story. Today she battles Winona.)
“WAKE UP!” I blinked. This was an unusual wake up call. “What is it?” I yawned. “Earth to Megumi! Fea-th-er Ba-d-ge, ring any bells?” I started to moan, and then stopped. Feather Badge! I was supposed to fight Winona today! What a time to go brain dead. “I’m up!” I said suiting the action with the words. Exil smiled. “I thought you would wake up faster if I reminded you.” “Ha ha. Very funny.” I stretched and looked around. “What time is it?” I asked. “3:57 pm” Exil smiled broader. “WHAT?!” I couldn’t believe it! “I overslept?!” “You bet!” Exil started to laugh. “What’s going on?” Sasha came into the room looking puzzled. “Why didn’t you guys wake me up earlier? I can’t believe I overslept!” I was baffled. “Overslept? It’s eight in the morning, Megumi.” Sasha looked amused. “Exil woke us up so we went for breakfast.” “What?!” I turned to Exil, furious. Exil was cracking up. “Your face! I can’t believe you fell for it! 3:57!” Exil stopped talking with a spasm of giggles. “3:57? Pm? That is funny!” Shu-Shu entered now. I scowled, I hated being fooled. “YOU may find it funny but I don’t!” I said angrily. “Whoa! Sorry! It was just a joke!” Exil tried to stop giggling but failed miserably. I relaxed a little. “I can’t believe I fell for such a simple prank.” I said begrudgingly. “Oh well, you hafta beat Winona today anyway.” Sasha smiled. I sighed but headed to the door. After a good breakfast we started towards Winona’s Gym. “You’re early!” Winona seemed surprised. “Somebody got us up in the early hours.” I shot an accusing glance at Exil, who looked like he might have another giggle attack. “Whatever the reason…Let’s begin, who’s battling me?” Winona called out Swellow. “I will obviously. Mighteyena, come out.” I said tossing his PokéBall. “Garroyo!” Mighteyena bared his teeth at Swellow threateningly. “Swee!” Swellow quivered slightly. “Mighteyena! Bite!” I commanded. “Hureya!” He fastened his jaws on Swellow’s back. “Sweeiii!” Swellow panicked and started to struggled. “Swellow! Settle down!” Winona tried franticly to calm Swellow but failed. “Swell! Sweeii!” Swellow crashed about the room wildly, trying to get Mighteyena off. “Mighteyena! Use Crunch!” I shouted to him. “Gryuu!” Mighteyena growled happily and set to work. “Swi! Sweei! Swellow…” Swellow flapped franticly, and then flopped down in a faint. “Guess the excitement got to her.” Shu-Shu commented. “Swellow return.” Winona looked grumpy. “Mighteyena, come back.” I said to my faithful Poke’mon. I had memorized Winona’s Poke’mon order. “Pikachu! Let’s go!” Winona flinched but tossed a PokéBall I knew held her Pelliper. “Pelli!” Pelliper came out of her PokéBall just as I had thought. “Pikachu! Thunder!” I shouted. Before Winona could react; Pikachu’s Thunder hit its mark. “Pelliper!” Pelliper was weakened considerably. “Once again!” I said enthusiastically. “Pika-CHU!” Pikachu sent powerful waves of electricity at Pelliper. “Pelli Pelli!” Pelliper tried to get out of the way, but was unsuccessful. “Pe-pelliper…” Pelliper fainted. It was too easy for my Pikachu. I smiled. “Pikachu, return.” “Pika!” Pikachu smiled happily before he disappeared inside his PokéBall. “Charizard! Your turn!” As I tossed his PokéBall I smiled; Charizard could melt steel. “Skamory! Let’s go!” Winona threw Skamory’s PokéBall. “Ska-mor-y!” Skamory shook her feathers and it made a rustling metal sound. “Eeeee…” Silver shivered. “Charizard! Fire Blast!” I shouted. “Skamory! Agility! Dodge it!” Winona also was shouting. “Now! Steel Wing!” “Charizard! Copy Skamory!” I shouted. If Charizard could use Steel Wing and counter Skamory, I might get the lead. Skamory and Charizard’s wings began to glow white, the attacks hit each other at the same time and deflected. They did this for some time; I realized that to win we would have to turn on some heat. “Charizard! Flamethrower!” I shouted to him. Charizard roared and started spewing flame at Skamory. “Skamory! Agility!” Winona commanded. “You too Charizard!” I yelled to him. Skamory and Charizard were matched in speed, only Charizard was still using Flamethrower. “Ska!” Skamory cried as the flame hit her. Steel was weak against fire. “One more time!” I was excited; soon I would win this battle and gain my badge. Charizard roared again and sent a powerful blast towards
Skamory. “Skamory…” Winona winced. “You did good, now return. Go! Altaria!” “Charizard! Come back! Now you will have to face my best Pokémon; Espeon!” I threw Espeon’s PokéBall. She and I had been through everything together, this would be no different! “Altair!” Altaria cried. “Espeon, Espe!” Espeon growled. “Now Altaria! Dragon Breath!” Winona cried. “Alllltaaaiirr!” Altaria ejected green flames from her mouth. “Espeon!” Espeon protected herself using her psychic abilities. “Espeon! Use Psy-Beam!” I shouted, excited. “Espe!” Espeon’s eyes glowed white, and she shot a rainbow colored beam of psychic energy at Altaria. As always, I was taken aback by the beauty of the attack. Altaria also appeared dazzled, either by the force or the brilliance of the attack, I didn’t know which. “Espeon!” Without me telling her too, Espeon followed up the attack with a powerful Psychic. “Ari!” Altaria fell, but got back up again. “Good job! Now use Arial Ace!” Winona shouted. Altaria swiftly collided with Espeon, but I knew she was alright. “Espeon! Hold still!” I said quickly. “Espe!” Espeon stood up but stayed in the same place. “Hunh?” Exil appeared confused. (Good! After that trick he played…) I thought. “Once again Altaria!” Winona screeched. Altaria turned around and prepared to use Arial Ace. “Hold it, hold it…” I muttered as Espeon began to fidget a little. “Ese.” Espeon stopped fidgeting and I felt her search my thoughts. Just as Altaria was about to hit, I shouted. “Espeon! Protect!” “Esepe!” Espeon protected herself just in time, but Altaria bounced off and hit a wall. “Altar?” Altaria collapsed. “How?!” Winona stammered. “At the speed Altaria was going at, if she stopped too suddenly she would black out long enough for us to win.” I explained. “Espeon!” Espeon trotted back to me happily. “Well then…I think you have earned thi- what?” Winona stared at her hand, where a Feather Badge had lain moments before. “Espeon!” I laughed. “Espe?” Espeon was holding the Badge with her powers. “Give it here.” I said happily. “Eon!” Espeon deposited the badge into my hand gently. “Thank you.” I said as I hugged her. To Be Continued.
