Title: MGPJ: The Art of Berries (Finally)

(Author's Note: I decided to quit the stuff where the Pokedex activated. It sounded too corny, so now I'm only going to write the chapter number, and not going to write 'ID' because that's not very neccesary. Also, I'm changing story format. I put a space after every sentence, which doesn't need to happen. Now I'm going to put paragraph chunks.)

It was yet another day. We were at the Pokemon Center, waiting to get our Pokemon healed. 'Here you go,' Nurse Joy said, holding a tray with 2 pokeballs on it. 'They're all healed.' Then Nurse Joy carried Raichu out on his tray. Raichu was happy to see me. 'Rai!' 'That's good,' I said. I hugged Raichu tight. 'Are your Pokemon okay?' Serena said, 'Electrike's still in care. I'm worried about him. He's my Pokemon!' I said, 'He was so brave, but he almost got caught in an explosion.' Kirk said, 'I hope he survives!' And he squeezed Treecko. Dalton laughed and bounced Jolteon in his arms. 'Whoohoo! This is great! All our Pokemon are safe!' Serena growled. 'What's your problem? At the Archaeology Center you didn't notice how gloomy Espeon was!'

Dalton said, 'Who cares? You should be proud to have Pokemon anyway.' He squeezed Jolteon close and Torchic ran around his legs. Serena’s head swelled angrily. “Espeon is important to me…” she muttered through clenched teeth. “Fine!” Dalton sighed. “But don’t come running when…” Serena eyed Dalton. “OKAY! JEEZ!” he whined. Suddenly, a scream emanated from upstairs. “That sounded like Nurse Joy,” I shouted. Kirk said, “Let’s go check it out!” The team began running towards the stairs. Suddenly, dozens of huge holes burst from under us. We all fell inside – separated.

“Huh?” I said. “Guys! Look at the bottom of these holes!” My friends, who were in the other holes, looked down. Digletts and Dugtrios were passing through the hole. Carrying food. I asked, “Does anyone think a Queen Diglett is around here?” Kirk replied, “Like queen ants and bees?”

Suddenly, a Dugtrio passed by. The three digletts working together were enough to carry a huge berry! “WHAT’S THAT?” I nearly screamed my lungs out at that thing. “That must be a PokeBerry!” Dalton said. “Pokeberries?” I stared at Dalton. “PokeBerries are food berries. They’re safe to eat, of course – they were tested by scientists, so now they grow artifical berry trees. They’re all over Hoenn, carrying these luscious little fruits,” he explained. The one they were carrying looked like a HUGE bushel of berries. It was very bitter-looking. “And sour,” Dalton said. “But they should taste like normal grapes. Only the pokemon can stand the taste of those things.” Raichu licked its lips. “Raaaiii!” it said. It ran after the Dugtrio. It dug a hole in the side of the large pit, and Raichu squeezed through the tunnel it left. “Raichu!” I screamed.

Nurse Joy ran into view. “AAAH! This is catastrophic! Holes in the floor! I thought there was an earthquake when I felt it upstairs!” Instead of high-tech machines, the pokemon center’s floor now had piles of dirt, and holes with all sorts of mechanical junk. “I should really try to take care of the Pokemon in 2 different ways, but I want to heal Pokemon so badly, I only want to do that!” “I see your problem!” I said, climbing out of Diglett’s hole. The wreckage made some pillars start toppling over! “AAAAH!” Nurse Joy screamed. “This Pokemon Center is wrecking, and I’m having repairmen!” Serena gasped. “What about Electrike?” Nurse Joy yelled, “You can still save him!”

We ran upstairs to where Electrike was. Suddenly, a few Digletts tore through the hallway looking for berries. “I can’t believe they would just barge into the Pokemon Center like this!” I yelled. Little pieces of rubble dropped from the ceiling, so we continued running. A diglett passed under my foot and I stumbled. “AAAAARGH…”

“Woah!” I exclaimed when I came to my senses. “This is the Pokemon Center’s berry supply!” Dalton gasped. Kirk said, “Serena’s nearby… with Electrike…but this is what the Diglett were coming for!” There were shelves of berries, which were for the diner part of the Pokemon Center. Some were big, some were juicy, some were green and some were red. All kinds of PokeBerries. I suddenly realized I was laying in Diglett’s dirt! So I stood up. “AAARGH!” I brushed myself off. “This is the LAST time I forget to wash my clothes during camp!”

Suddenly, an old woman walked in. “Ah, at last, I have found our culprit!” She angrily hobbled over to the Digletts, and put her fingers to her mouth. A shrill whistle came out. “WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!” The digletts and Dugtrios turned. “OH! THE POKEMON CENTER IS WRECKED! I SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET YOU OUT ON YOUR OWN!” “Excuse me, lady, are these your Pokemon?” Kirk asked. “Yes. I am absolutely STEAMED that they have wrecked the Pokemon Center!” She sat down and cried because the Pokemon Center was ruined! “The Pokemon Center is a good thing – then my digletts come to steal berries and they ended up creating an earthquake reducing the Pokemon Center to rubble. I must be dreaming… I can’t BELIEVE this!”

I said, “It’s so unbelievable, but we’re not dreaming. We should help repair this Pokemon Center!” So, that night, the Pokemon Center was closed down. Serena came rushing in. “Help! Electrike isn’t going to make it!” Electrike was bruised and cut badly from the earthquake. A layer of mud was stuck in his throat. “Lec… trike…” Electrike barely whimpered. I looked. “Well, I’m going to abandon my duties to help Electrike!” My friends were currently reboarding the floor. Nurse Joy said, “I can’t get the machines online. How could Digletts be so much trouble?” The old woman watched us dig. “I don’t know. I’ve seen the darndest things in life, but this tops the cake. My own Digletts. Well, ground Pokemon can create earthquakes. Rumbling through the Pokemon Center like this would probably cause an accident, so I’ve well cooled off now.”

Dalton said, “Good thing it wasn’t a Donphan stampede. They would have uprooted every last chunk of rubble.” I imagined a Pokemon Center, completely flattened with rubble and machinery. It would have been a wasteland. Caused by similar force of a hurricane!

“First of all, Electrike is choked by the mud in its throat. We can wash it out with water, however,” I said, while helping Serena out. “Right. I’ll look for a river.” “No, we need a spring…” I said. “River water can be contaminated. All sorts of gross chemicals would make Electrike die! It’s like drinking gasoline or nuclear waste!” “I hope Mudkip has clear water!” “That’s it!” I said, then released Mudkip from its Pokeball. “Okay, Electrike, open wide!” We tried prying it open, but such crude treatment made it gag. “Quickly now!” Mudkip shouted, “Mudkip!” and squirted water in Electrike’s throat.

The renovation of the Pokemon Center left us pondering on what to do. The old woman offered, “I’ll take you to my house and tell you about the great berry tree.” The old woman hobbled along. “My name is Thetté,” she told us. “I used to grow a diglett farm, but the digletts began to get restless over a shortage of berries. But then, we found thirteen different kinds of berries, and and we planted them. They grew into a great berry tree, and it has been feeding my happy Digletts for over four years.

At the great house, she asked us, “Please take care of the berry tree. It is… dying.” Stepping outside, we saw the tree. Serena said, “It barely has any leaves!” “WAIT! It’s being dug up!” Serena yelled, “What?” The ground began quaking as a bunch of dirt flung out from the ground near the roots. We ran out the back porch. “Stop right there, whoever’s digging!” Thetté held a cane and hobbled down. She took out an old grey Pokeball, ridden with dirt. “I keep my rare Pokemon in this old ball. Take this, you diggers!”

She tossed it. “Go, MAROWAK!” Marowak appeared and held up its bone. “WAK! WAAK!” Marowak charged towards the tree! “You too, Mudkip!” I shouted! Mudkip and Marowak ran towards the scene and suddenly a drill poked out of the ground causing a crack under the root of the tree. The root rustled sideways. “Protect that tree, Mudkip!”

Mudkip leapt to the side of the tree. “KIP!” It cried out as the tree leaned over. “HAHAHAHA!” a yell came. The drill smashed the ground near the tree, leaving a huge hole where the joyous branched plant couldn’t stand any longer. It leaned over diagonally. “KIIIP!” Mudkip screamed out loud. “This must be TEAM ROCKET!” I shouted. “I don’t know why you started bothering us again!”

The machine rose from the ground to reveal a grotesque humanoid with a big body drill and big Pokemon-capturing claws. In a window, Jessie, James and Meowth stood. “Prepare for trouble!” “Make it double!” “To protect the world from devastation!” “To unite all peoples within our nation!” “To denounce…” “PUT A CAN IN IT!” Serena shouted. “We’re here to stop this destruction!”

“We left to go to Hoenn for a while. When you came here, you could expect our surprise!” James laughed.
Meowth laughed, “Now for da icing on da cake!” The drill began to spin.

“Mudkip, get out from under the tree.” Mudkip leapt out to fight. Suddenly, the entire tree crashed down letting out a sonic boom. “JORDAN! You idiot! You let Mudkip out now? You should have done it earlier!” Serena shouted. “Oh no! I let the tree fall!” I realized. “Okay! Let’s get Team Rocket! Raichu, go!” Mudkip, Marowak and Raichu stood there. “Marowak, BONEMERANG!” Marowak tossed its huge bone straight at the device and blew a huge hole in its metal side. The Bonemerang came rushing out as the machine doubled over with a roar! “AAAAUUUGHHH!” screamed all three.

“MUDKIP! Water gun!” I commanded my mudpuppy-like friend. “Mudmudmudmud!” Mudkip squealed then shot a long-range beam of water and utterly soaked the unsuspecting robot. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Jessie laughed. “That won’t work! Our robot doesn’t mind a little rust!” The robot began to sink into soft mud which was softened by a gallon of aquatic ammo. “Huh?” Jessie looked down. “WE’RE BAIT!” Meowth screamed. “Raichu! THUNDERBOLT!” “Chuuuu!” Raichu screamed as it let loose a bolt that fried their robot to kingdom come, aided by the ever-helpful marine blasts from my fishy blue companion. “AAAARRRRGGGGHHGHHH!” the villains cried, as their robot erupted in an enormous blaze of steam.

“Well, that is that,” I sighed as they spun into the distance. “Team Rocket’s BLASTING OFF AGAIN!” they yelled. “Where will they land?” Serena asked. “I’m not sure. But wherever it is, they’ll get their just desserts.” “Look, Jordan?” Serena asked. “I’m sorry for calling you an idiot.” “But, I was an idiot.” I said. I adjusted my glasses. “I had a plan to blow up their robot, but I didn’t think about the tree, and the Digletts are angry now.”

“Woah…” Thetté suddenly gasped. Marowak looked down at what she was holding. A berry. “Plant it,” I told her. “And the berry tree will live again!” “Yes,” she said. “I will. Thank you for all your help, kids. Let’s go back to the Pokemon Center.”

We went to see the Pokemon Center. Kirk walked up. “Nurse Joy managed to activate the Pokemon Healing system. Serena’s Electrike can be healed, but the place now looks old as if it’s been abandoned for years.” Serena laughed. “Oh, happy day! Come on, Electrike. You’ll be better.” We chatted with Nurse Joy. “Thank you,” she said. “Thetté told me all about the battle against those scourges.” “Let’s hope the Digletts will be happy with the berry tree next year,” Dalton exclaimed. We all laughed.

The next day, with healed Pokemon, the group began to travel to Route 102, and finally, Petalburg Town, if they could.
