Title: Harry's memory.

Harry knocked on the door of Dumbledore's office. 'Exscuse me, Sir?' He said.
The office was silent. Slowly, he opened the door, poked his head round and peered into the room. It was empty exept for Fawkes who sat alert and watchful in his cage. Harry was about to leave when he noticed something round on Professor Dumbledore's desk. It was a silver object and was made of glass. It looked a bit like a crystal ball exept it was slightly flatter and oval shaped. Harry looked at it. It seemed to beckon him closer. He wanted to use it in some way. He knew he must. 'I wish I knew what it does.' He said aloud as he examined it from every angle. Suddenly, in the same split second that he spoke, a small rectangular booklet appeared in front of him on the desk. He picked it up and opened it. He began to read: ' SNOISIV MORF EHT TSAP' Welcome to the ability to relive any moment from your past. Just say aloud which moment you wish to relive and you will immediately be transported there. You will have 5 minutes before you are transported back to the present.' Harry lowered the booklet and placed it down on the table beside the object. So this thing could transport you to the past? He knew he wanted to have a go and he knew which moment he wanted to relive. But he wasn't sure whether he should. His yearning got the better of him and he said loudly and clearly,
'Halloween night, 1987, Godric's Hollow.'
Immmediately, he found himself stood in a nicely decorated house. There was a roaring fire in the fireplace but the atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable. Then, he heard voices coming from another room. He tracked them to a small bedroom where a tall man with glasses and untidy black hair stood, trying to comfort a pretty, red-haired woman with green eyes. The woman was cradling a small baby. Harry knew the baby to be him. 'Oh James.' The woman was sobbing. 'I'm so frightened, James. I'm frightened for our son, I'm frightened for our lives.'
'Don't worry Lily. Peter won't betray us. He's our friend...' But he couldn't finish. The front door was suddenly blasted in with so much force that the whole house shook. James and Lily looked at one another in alarm. Harry wanted to shout out to them. To warn them of what was going to happen. But they couldn't hear him. They were only a memory. 'He's here Lily. It's him. Take Harry and go, I'll hold him back!' James ran from the room. Lily sobbed. Harry heard James say 'STOP!' and then he heard a cold voice mumble something. There was a flash of green light and then there were footsteps up to the room where his mother stood, shielding Harry, who she had layed in his crib. A cloaked figure entered the room and Harry heard a horrible voice emitted from it. 'Stand aside, girl, stand aside.' It said. 'Nooo! Harry! Take me instead, please don't hurt him. Please! I'll do anything!'
Harry saw another flash of green light and his mother slumped to the floor, lifeless and limp. Then the cloaked figure took down his hood revealing a pale face and two slits for eyes which glowed red. He pointed his wand at the small child as he lay sleeping. 'Avada Kedavra' He boomed and there came a flash of blinding green light. When Harry re-opened his eyes,he saw the baby was still intact except for a lightening shaped cut on his forehead and he also saw an empty cloak on the floor and as he looked up, he saw what looked like a whisp of smoke fly through the door.
Suddenly, he found himself stood back in Dumbledore's office, he was surprised to find that he had tears rolling down his face.He gave a start when he realised he was not alone. For in the chair beside him sat none other than Albus Dumbledore. 'Sir! I'm sorry sir! I couldn't help it-' Harry began at once. 'That's quite alright Harry. To be honest, I wanted you to find it. I knew you needed to see for yourself exactly what happened that night, for you, and you alone witnessed that fateful event. I am glad in a way that you were to see that.' Dumbledore said, gazing at him over his half-moon glasses. 'Yes, sir. In a way, I think I am too.'
