Luce grimaced as he walked toward the store. He'd need to--blend in to get the job done. He couldn't take items out of store and not look already suspicious the way he was. He walked around until he found a store and then walked in. The lights started flickering, screams of panic were heard, and the computer screens turned off. 'This was all planned' said Luce reassuringly.
The workers tried to shoo the people out but Luce had managed to stay inside. He gathered what he thought to be a 'trendy' set of clothes and then went up to the second floor. He couldn't risk getting caught. He climbed the stairs, until he reached the top floor.
'Oh bother' he mumbled as he stared it Tim. Tim snatched the bag out of Luce's hand and pulled him by the collar. 'What do you think you are doing!' screeched Tim. 'I'm trying to blend in you nitwit' snapped Luce. 'You don't have to blend in, moron. Don't you even know what you are capable of? As soon as you enter a building you sort of drain the energy from certain areas. That wasn't a brownout down there. That was you!” yelled Tim. He let go off Luce and then turned toward the fire escape.
'If you people actually told me stuff I wouldn't have bothered. This cycle of lies and me finding things out later isn't going to work. I've never worked like that' replied Luce as he followed Tim down the fire escape. Tim ignored, the same way Cecilia did. 'Every time I talk about them giving me info they sort of freeze. Were they promised something if they did or do they just not have control; doing the bidding of others' thought Luce.
Tim was already at the bottom, waiting for Luce to come down. 'Your job is to get these items because we can't. We don't even know how--- We're working on a machine that will send you back. But in return you must promise to let us do as we please' began Tim. Luce only nodded, ignoring every word that spewed out of the boy’s mouth.
'What in the world do they need a toaster for?' Luce asked himself as he walked alone into the store. He guessed the guard thought he was with the lady in front of him. Tim was 'standing guard'.
Again, the light and appliances seemed to shut off in his presence. He wandered through the aisles, picking up three of the various items. The question was: Could he bear to carry any more? He snatched a bag up from the floor and stuffed the items in. 'Toaster, walkie talkie set, and the things are all here' he mumbled. He acted like a lost customer fleeing the store and then headed out. To his surprise Tim wasn't waiting for him. Tim wasn't anywhere to be seen.
