Title: The Longest Journey (Chapter 10)

Chapter 10

The pokémon were going to start blasting the mountains. One bomb exploded. I fainted after the bomb exploded, but a Chansey almost immediately healed me.
The same thing happened twelve times, until we reached the final mountain. With no bombs left, we would have to climb the mountain. It was cold and windy up there, but that proposed no particular problem, because one of the Charizards or other fire pokémon can use one of their fire attacks to either melt the snow or warm us up when there is nothing but the wind gusting at almost a hundred miles an hour, which can create a wind chill of below –100 degrees. Then, some flying pokémon can also carry us up the to top and back down by flying. Overall, the thing is that crossing over this small mountain obstacle was a piece of cake, especially when our pokémon army has some powerful fighters.
The mountain climb was even easier than I thought; there was barely any snow or wind, and the temperatures were well in the fifties, which is very comfortable. The rocks were easy to grab, and there were barely any kind of dangerous obstacles.
Descending the mountain was even better. Some of the pokémon, including me, got to slide off the mountain, and it was a 1500-foot drop on the ice. The temperature was colder, but it was still tolerable.
After the mountain lay miles of grass field. Because the pokémon were united, the march was slow. Before, the pokémon gained their speed by hitting each other around in the direction where they want to go. Now, they were simply marching at a quick rate. I used my agility attack, which I never knew I had until I tried to run very fast, and I kept up with the group. The group was marching at a rate of 23 miles an hour, faster than the fastest sprinter on earth for 100 meters. At this rate, it would take over 6 days to reach Blackthorn City. We should be able to survive that, and when we do reach the city, all we have to do is to steal all the food that people own. Then, we conquer other cities and steal all their food too. This might take us a long time to complete. By the time we get to the second of third city, we can all split up and live on our own. We can attack the citizens of a city and steal all the food they have. After all this, when there is no food left, we can then eat the food that the other parts of the world have. There are cities miles and miles away that we have never heard of. If people continue to own us, we might become future slaves to them! We can’t let that happen!
The field was endless green. It was pretty, but the repetitive scenes were annoying. To keep us busy, we were preparing weapons to fight the people during this time. Most of it was to be attacks from the pokémon themselves so it wasn’t as important to prepare shields or swords.
The sun still went up and down in a quick fashion, so we couldn’t tell time very well. We knew that we were coming close because we saw some soda cans lying on the ground, and there were traces of human footsteps around.
After a few minutes, we finally saw faint hints of people. They were not expecting us. We were going to ambush them, and before they realize it, they have already been defeated.
“Ready,” the pokémon leader said.
We all got ready to attack.
“CHARGE!!!!!”
We all rushed into the city, and there were people trying to escape the moment they saw us. They tried, but it was too late to get away from us. Some of the pokémon immediately shot hyper beams, and some were actually launched before the people even knew that something was approaching. That sent people flying all over the place. The other attacks were just as effective, even the tackle attacks. My psychic was probably the most powerful of the attacks, along with the psychic attacks of the other pokémon because it could move people anywhere. Sometimes, one of us would keep a group of people still, and then some other pokémon would shoot a strong attack like ice beam or aeroblast.
Slowly the people population diminished, and then they were forced to surrender. After they moved out of the city, the pokémon raided the city and stole almost all the food they had. I especially liked the bread they had. The pokémon center had a whole kitchen of food. Some of the food didn’t need to be cooked, so they were the easiest to prepare. No one fought over anything because they all knew that they would have plenty to eat later on. After a week or two, the city should be picked clean, although we might keep some of the food for our journeys we will go on.
Our next city was New Bark Town, several tens of miles from Blackthorn city. It would take us no more than 1 day to get there. Now we can take our time, since we don’t want to have so much food in a row. We just ate in Blackthorn, so we should wait for a while before having to eat a feast again.
Any people we encountered on the way were killed, and all their belongings were taken. We rested for a couple of hours during the walk.
I could understand what the pokémon were saying.
“Do you know why you are a human when you’re actually supposed to represent a pokémon? The reason is a little complicated. At first, Cynte realized that people and pokémon were separated too much, so he makes you to represent a pokémon in human form. He never told anybody except the pokémon about this. He didn’t tell you either because he was afraid that you will act in a way that won’t respect the people. You never knew about this I believe, so you were always making friends and being nice to some people. The people didn’t know that they were actually talking with a pokémon. Later, Cynte founded a mistake in his plan. No one ever knew that you were a pokémon, either! They thought that you were just a person like any other.”
“Wait,” I asked, “I was actually made?”
“No, you were born, and then Cynte turned you into a real pokémon.”
“Why couldn’t I use attacks before?”
“Cynte saw that his plan was just going to do nothing, so he changed you back into a person, eliminating your powers. You were only like six, so your powers weren’t quite developed yet.”
“Why am I a pokémon now?”
“Now you are a pokémon because after he saw that a war was going to begin between the humans and the pokémon, so he changed you to fight one the other side. The first sign of the war was the plan that we had.”
This was probably exactly what happened in the war that occurred a long time ago. The pokémon attacked all the people.
There was a giant Onix before in the historic battle. It was excessively large compared to its normal size. What would be the excessively large thing this time?
It was probably the beast that was chasing everyone around. What was the beast a bigger version of?
I was never careful about what the beast looked like because I was always running away from it and I never looked back. I concentrated hard to get the beast’s picture back into my mind.
The identity was clear. It was a huge Rhydon.
Why do all these beasts have to be rock pokémon?

The feast in Blackthorn City didn’t make a difference to me. I was not fat after I ate that meal. One meal can’t make much difference to you.
After a long time fighting, I was starving before I came upon the city for food. The meal was refreshing to have, and it will last me about 2 days to the minimum, maybe even up to 5 days, but by then, I would be starving again. Before, I couldn’t even last one day without food, but later on, I have gotten used to the lack of food and I could last longer and longer without getting hungry.
There wasn’t any difference in my feeling of the desire of food, but my weight showed.
Normally I wasn’t concerned with how much I weighed, because there wasn’t any chance to see how much I was on a scale anyway.
In a pokémon center in Blackthorn city, I weighed myself for the first time in about 7 months. Last time I was actually on a scale was sometime in the pokémon center back at the Indigo Plateau.
At that time, I was aware about the effects of this journey in the wild parts of the pokémon world.
Before, when I was at the pokémon league, I recalled I was 94 pounds, or somewhere around.
Now, I was a tiny 57 pounds, and it was months later, during my growth spurt.
Let’s not talk about it anymore.

It was actually not such a long walk to New Bark Town, and before long, I saw little houses.
We conquered everyone in these houses, and their food disappeared from their belongings, leaving us with more and more food supply to live on.
New Bark Town was even smaller than Blackthorn City, so it was super easy to steal every thing that the residents had, as well as killing the residents. We barely had to use 5 attacks and everything was down.
We stuffed ourselves again, and it felt so good afterwards. In just about 30 minutes, no body lived in the city.
“Our next city will be Cherrygrove city, a short journey that will only take us 2 hours to get to. When we reach there, eat a little, but make sure to put all remaining foods in the storage for later use,” our commander said when we were going to leave.
Our commander was a very responsible Kecleon, and he always took very careful care of his tasks. He knew what was going on at anytime.
The walk to Cherrygrove city was a light paced walk in the tiny grass of where the first trainers first set their foot on in a beginning of a journey of their own. It was like the path north of Pallet Town that I went on when I first started my pokémon journey. It was also where I caught my first pokémon, a Celebi…
If one cannot guess what happened in Cherrygrove City, then you might need to go to remedial school to refresh your mind about reading and understanding what the passage means.
We must’ve collected a mountain of food, because the food in the storage almost tripled in size.
That was very quick, and before long, we were on our way to our next destination, Violet City. It was a 10-hour walk from here to there. I asked the commander why we were storing so much food.
“It isn’t like were going to eat it all with all these cities along our path.”
The commander must have knew the answer of this question very well, because he replied without hesitation, “although there are all these cities to refuel our mission, our true goal is to get to Hardiaton, a city 150000 miles away. There are only 3 cities between this region and the destination, so we have to have plenty of supply.”
That distance will take us a complete 3-and-a-half year time period to cover, assuming that we go at a constant 5-mile an hour pace, which is quite impossible to keep up.
“In the middle of the journey,” the Kecleon continued, “there will be only water. If we come across harsh winters on our way, we must slow down. It will take us as much as 5 years to get to that city.
“We must get to that city because that is where the secret switch is hidden. This switch will allow all fighting in the pokémon world to stop. It is very magical, and it isn’t hard to press. If we can just get there soon enough, we can stop all the fighting. The world would be very safe for the time being.”
“What about the return trip?” I asked.
This caught him by surprise, because he had never thought about the possibility of a return trip. “It wouldn’t seem realistic to make us journey for 10 years, right? I had never thought about that question, it’s a very good thing that you brought it up.”
“Is there a river we can take?” I cut in.
“There is only one river that I know that flows all the way to Hardiaton. It is a fast moving river that flows against us when we go there, but hey, we can take that river on our way back. That river can move at 30 miles and hour, and it we use our own power to move in that river, the pokémon can get back home very quickly.”
Assuming that we travel at around 33 miles an hours on that river constantly, which we should be able to average, it would only take us a half-year to get back home.
“I have to tell the group about the rest about this,” the Kecleon said to me and walked away.
When the group heard about the idea about a return trip, they almost gave up, but when they were also informed about the shortcut that they could take through the river, most of them were relieved.
We would be leaving the pokémon world for almost 6 whole years. I shudder to think about what would happen to us.
I just hope that it is nothing bad, but I have this uncomfortable feeling inside me that is growing, growing, and growing even more…
